Week Five Reflection Stress Stress is a psychological response experienced when the body encounters a threat that it feels it does not can stand the threat thus responding biologically. The body experiences the stress after it is transferred by stressor stimulus (Carnevale, 2001). As a result, the body’s biological process reacts towards the stimulus by increasing the heart rate, increase in the breathing rate and decrease in digestive activity in the body among other responsesAnxiety Disorders Anxiety disorders are mental illnesses that cause people to be excessive, uneasy, distressed and frightened than other people would be in a similar situation.

The disorders impair a person’s ability to relate with others or to work (Janis, 1971). For example, a panic disorder causes people to experience terror that often strikes without warning. Biopsychosocial Model and Schizophrenia Biopsychosocial model is a criterion used in defining the psychological disorders. In some cases, a person needs a single criterion to be diagnosed as having a disorder. In other cases, different models can be used to address the disorder. Psychologists use different psychological conceptual models for describing, understanding and treating these disorders (Lindquist, 1953).

The models are developed with a psychological understanding of the human mind. Schizophrenia is brains disorder that abnormal interpretation of reality by people. The condition can result into a combination of delusion, hallucination and extreme cases of thinking disorderCognitive Therapy Cognitive therapy is a physiotherapy approach based on the cognitive model. The model recognizes that feelings, thoughts and behavior are interconnected. Therefore, people can attain their goals by changing the unhelpful and inaccurate thinking, emotional distressful emotional responses and problematic behavior (McLeod, 2009).

Goals of Psychotherapy The goals of psychotherapy are to enhance ones’ understanding about himself or herself. Therapy aims to relieve emotional pain or confusion. People develop a better understanding of their psychological issues. In the process, they develop effective coping mechanisms (Valle, 2003). ReferencesCarnevale, P. J. (2001).
