The disorder inappropriately distorts the normal courtship behaviors by human beings where the patient uses nonliving materials such as girls’ underpants and non-genital body parts (Theravive.com). Patients diagnosed with the disorder develop behaviors and actions that are harmful physically as well as psychologically, which usually result in high levels of distress. The disorder can lead to substantial crimes such as rape cases if left untreated. The cause of Frotteuristic disorder is not known, but there are only theories that try to explain the causes of the disorder.

A theory that has not been proved is that one of the causes of the disorder is the act of an individual rubbing against another individual in a crowded place, which acts as the stimulus to sexual arousal. Negative experiences during childhood such as rape and brain disorders causing insufficient impulse control have also been theorized to cause the disorder. Symptoms The most recognizable symptom of Frotteuristic disorder is the significant sexual arousal, which results from body contacts inform of rubbing or touching other people without their consent observed on the onset of adolescence.

The disorder is accompanied by intense sexual fantasies resulting just by touching other people for example in crowded places. Remarkably, touching and urges associated with the disorders mostly happen in public places. Affected individuals display significant distress Diagnosis of Frotteuristic disorder is carried to patients who show the symptoms for at least six months (Theravive.com).
