The Florida Sexual Predator Act requires every person designated as a sexual predator to register as a sexual predator after serving a sentence. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) upon receiving notification about the existence of sexual predator in the community should inform all licensed elementary schools, high schools, day care centers and middle schools within a radius of one mile from the offender’s home about the existence of sexual predator in the area (Rufo, 2011).

Under Public Safety Information Act, the court is responsible for issuing the public with notice of the existing sexual predator in the community through publication of the offender’s details such as names, age, image, the area of residence, etc. (Ramsland & McGrain, 2010). Treatment and Care Act deals with sexual predators lacking mental disorders meaning they are not subject to mental compulsory treatment and subsequent release. The Wetterling Act requires the authority to notify the public about the sexual predators release upon completion of a prison sentence.

Lynchner Act (1996) regulates the registration of offenders of serious crimes (Rufo, 2011). This applies to crimes committed by the suspect for the first time that falls into the category of sexual predator offense. These include false imprisonment, sexual battery, kidnapping, vulgar offenses committed to minors or in the presence of underage persons, and crime of trafficking of children for sexual exploitation, etc. their punishment is an incarceration of up to thirty years (Ramsland & McGrain, 2010).

These crimes categorized under sexual predator, and the offender of such crimes has a history of similar crimes. For example, false imprisonment, kidnapping, lewd crimes committed upon or in the presence of underage persons, sexual battery, trafficking underage persons for sexual exploitation, etc.
