Imagery Affiliation: What would it be like to grow up without the ability to see or hear?The world would be filled with imagery based purely on verbal codes as one has never seen the images so as to form visual representation (Coon and Mitterer, 2008). These verbal codes are based on what one has read on the subject and one forms images from the reading which may be totally different from real life but they act as representation of the real things.What types of thoughts and imagery would you be capable of generating?

The images and thoughts would be propositional as one has actually no idea what the real object looks like and depends only on what they have read. Descriptions will lead to formation of schemes according to information read on the subject and this will lead to formation of mental images based on that. How would you begin to teach someone who is both blind and deaf?The first is to make them understand all the information about the subject being taught making as many descriptions as possible which are detailed.

This will allow the person to form his or her own mental images of the objects being discussed based on that information and hence will learn from that as the information will be based on that description. Would it be possible to explain what a beautiful sunset looked like to a person who has never been able to see?Yes it is possible as long as one covers all the abstract and concrete descriptions of the sunset which will enable the blind person to form his or her own visual imagery about the sunset (Pearson, 2012).

If the descriptions provided are accurate, the blind person if asked to portray the picture will produce the exact replica as if he has seen the sunset. Considering your current career goals (interior designer), what career would you pursue if you suddenly lost your sight? How would such a loss impact your perception of yourself?I would be an artist and or even a landscape designer since this will allow my still creative mind to be active and I would still be designing only not so much from the pressures and perfection required of interior designers but based purely on imagination and descriptions of what is required.

Even though my career would be impossible and somewhat ruined, I would still put my creative mind to work and hence the perception of self will not be affected by the loss of sight.
