Pregnancy Experience The interview was conducted of Mary who is a recent mother. She went through a good pregnancy six months back. The experience was slightly difficult in the beginning but with the help and assistance of some elders, she was able to sustain the period without much difficulty. Since advice and facilitation was always handy, Mary learned that those 9 months were not at all tough on her part. The surprising aspect for Mary during her pregnancy was that she knew very little about what went into such a period where immense breakdown was taking place as a newborn was about to come.

Each day was a learning curve for her as she determined new things and shortcuts to ease up her domains as well as the baby. My perspective of womanhood has become quite positive because I have now known that becoming a mother is indeed a Herculean aspect and requires immense care and attention at all stages. Mary told me that some myths which she would like to dispel surround the basis of not eating stuff that some people advise. She was adamant that the to-be mothers should eat what they feel like because essentially they are not only feeding themselves but also the baby.

She wants other women and teens to know that with perseverance they can make the journey quite an enjoyable one. Also she suggests that men should remain loyal during the period of pregnancy to make the women feel comfortable all this while. She believes that her culture helped her in a number of ways, most significant of which was the understanding paid towards doing spiritual rituals which eased up her mind and provided solitude which she cherishes even to this day.
