The person avoids responsibility for doing or not doing an action in the presence of others, by assuming that the action done by others; otherwise they will do the action. The theory explains the current event where a man in West Virginia died while on a shopping spree, due to a sudden illness on black Friday.

Surprisingly, fellow shopper ignored the man’s body, while others just went over it (Gardner, 23).The theory is on responsibility, where most of the shoppers thought it is the responsibility of others to take the man lying down breathlessly to a hospital or just call an ambulance. The shoppers thought it was the work of the police to do so, which is a physiological malady affecting not just the shoppers but most people. The theory clearly describes what the event is all about in that, the shoppers who were at the mall that time avoided the responsibility of taking up the sick person and taking him to a nearby hospital with the assumption and pretence that it would be done by other shoppers.

Strictly speaking this thought was in every shopper that the other would help; hence no one took up the mantle of taking the man to the hospital. Thus, the diffusion of responsibility theory clearly indicates in this event which occurred so sadly during the festive season of Christmas (Susan, 45). My explanation to the event, is tracing other events that show how people fail to show responsibility to others like, stampedes that show greediness that have happened in football pitches, as well as clubs; thus my explanation is clear and definite to the article in question.

The theory sincerely, adequately explains the event because it shows how human forgo the responsibility they have on others, on the bases that it is to be done or done by other people. In the article, it queries people, why people turn away from practicing principled Samaritan ship. In that a man, who happens to be shopping for Christmas and tremendously excited about it, gets into a shopping mall, due to sudden illness, the man collapses and falls on the doorway. Fellow shoppers, who happen to be as human as the man lying down before them, refuse to attend to Vance the man on the floor, even going over him, which is socially unacceptable.

The event is occurring as people, in this case shopper’s not taking responsibility, but waiting for others to do what they do, and also it happens because people only think about themselves leaving the rest to God maybe (Susan, 47). In the real world, such an event that happened in Vance can be avoided by people at least shelving their pride and taking responsibilities, not just standing and watch as others do their responsibility. This helps to avoid deaths which come out of irresponsible behavior from mankind, if this is taking place, the Virginia man would enjoy his Christmas on both legs, and ironically he did not live to see the highly anticipated event.
