Extract of sample "Aging Population"

It is true that in the next 25 years, we will have more elderly people due to the aging baby boomers.  Our elderly population has, however, already been gradually increasing if for no other reason than the longevity of seniors due to better medical care, and, consequently, better general health.  As the percentage of elderly people increases, they will continue to be accommodated.   That the few (workers) will support the many (seniors) is given.  However, the few must remember that one day it will become their turn to be supported by the few.  Governments must ensure that arrangements are in place so that seniors can continue to receive good medical care and housing and have a liveable income.  They have helped to make our country great.

This student was fascinated by the assigned video entitled, “My Father, My Brother and Me.”  It covered in spellbinding detail what Parkinsons' is, possible reasons for its occurrence, its gradual progression, and the massive research going on to find a cure.  One very hopeful area involves cells that are derived from embryonic stem cells that are created from leftover frozen embryos.  They can generate any type of cells in the body.  Fetal brain transplants could release Dopamine, a key neurotransmitter, which begins to disappear when Parkinson's' occurs.  President Bush, however, refused to let any new embryos be used since they have the potential to become human beings. Yet, if they are truly left over, they eventually will be destroyed, which also destroys potential human life.  The situation is more hopeful now under this government.
