Ethical Standards for Human Research Issues Presented When Doing Research Involving Human s The following issues are essential when doing research involving human subjects. Human subjects should give consent voluntarily if they are to be used in research. The person involved must have a legal ability in order to give consent. The person involved in research should not be forced by any one in agreeing to be used in research. Before acceptance of a decision, the person should have full information regarding duration, nature and purpose of the experiment, method to used, inconveniences expected and resulting health effects.

The responsibility for insisting the quality of consent lies entirely on the individual who starts, directs and engages in the experiment. Experiments should be geared towards yielding fruitful results for societal benefit. They should not be random or unnecessary in nature. No experiments should be carried out if there is an initial reason to believe that death or injury would occur to the subject. Highly qualified individuals should do experiments. Experiments can be terminated at any stage if there is a prediction that it may result in physical injury, mental injury or death.

Violation of the Principle End never justifies the means used to achieve it. This principle has been violated in some cases. The following are some examples to show a violation of this principle. Ted Bundy, who was a serial killer, faced a death sentence through an electric chair. He had killed many people, and by his elimination, many lives were saved. Hence, the end justifies the means. It was through his elimination that massive killings were stopped. In Holocaust, many people died. By ending the war, many lives were lost, but it was through sacrificing of deaths that saved more lives.

Ryan Moats, as he was driving towards hospital, he drove faster with the red light active. At the end, he was able to reach the hospital before his mother in law died. I think what has changed is the way things are done. Individuals look for means in order to tackle a problem that erupts. References Davidson, Eugene (1997).
