Mrs. Alaina Bill, a name that encompasses the marital status and commemorates my relations as a wife to Bill. What is your all-time passion in life? Helping the less fortunate people in the society to rebuild their lives and live positively despite the prevailing challenges. Which activities do you engage in during your holidays and free time? Counseling the youth and ageing people on the best resolutions those profusely lead to a positive future. How do you relate with your family and why? The relationship is mainly positive as each family member sorts to understand another under whichever circumstances that might prevail. Which of the relationships do you prefer as confidential? Mainly all relationships amongst the family members happen to be confidential with reference to the type of information held. How would you interrelate with clients with complicated situations and to what extend would you practice confidentiality? As a code of ethics, all cases dealing with clients shall rest confidential unless a third party’s opinion is a requirement to the cases at hand. What is your general appraisal for counseling as your intended career? With the level of experience and expertise, I generally acknowledge counseling as the appropriate solution to reaching majority of the challenged population. b. Relevance of the information It is important for a therapist and career development officer to evaluate the level of ethics and the extent which tackling different clients shall impose challenge to the career opportunity (Fillmore, 2006). It is thus of advise to adapt on the evaluation process as a measure of competence and expertise. 2. Motivation for counseling a. Mainly, the client sort to embark on career counseling after establishing the variations of livelihoods that different people lead due to adopting different careers in their learning (Gibson, & Mitchell, 2006). After reviewing her family background, Alaina clearly understands that the choice of career for every individual in the society is a determinant to kind of lives to lead in the future. With this, Alaina undertook a survey of her academic background and that of the entire family to ascertain the impacts that each career reflects in the personal lives of the individuals (Fillmore, 2006). The problems prevail in the society and are a norm, however; finding a lasting solution remains the best alternative to improve objectivity and career choices. Alaina reveals that her personal experiences are integral to her resolution of entering the field of career counseling as she seeks to halt chances at which the young and ageing population in the society may fail in acquiring their desired lifestyles due to wrong choices of careers. 3. Issues and problem focus a. Despite the fact that Alaina solved the issues that threatened to break her marriage, there is a salient to ensure that her children get proper care. The only possible approach to ensuring that the children develop appropriately is through cohesion and integration into the family and improving the parent-child relationship (Gibson, & Mitchell, 2006). Therefore, she should seek an alternative way of ensuring direct relations with the children, an approach that will further acquaint her daughter with appropriate skills of tackling mathematics related problems since her husband, who is a therapist shall be in a position to mentor her appropriately. b. Mental issues surrounding Alaina’s life may deter her proficiency in career and counseling profession. Alaina should be precise in evaluating her mild dysthymia as it may affect effectiveness in resolving other clients’ problems. With the AOD, anxiety, and other bipolar disorders, Alaina shall be incapable of being empathetic to clients and other professionals’ problems since they will affect her life as ones of her own. Secondly, she should be competent to suppress her problems without dependence on medication. c. Alaina’s strengths to deliver career-counseling programs emanate from her expertise in teaching and advising professionals on the appropriate methods of acquiring the appropriate job positions. Secondly, she exemplified her skills by coping with her cousin’s demise and further, by seeking appropriate solutions to reconstruct her trailing marriage. d. Social cognitive Career Theory (SCCT) and CIT approaches could blend to enhance the client’s capability of evaluating the extent at which she would accrue the desired effects from the counseling career. Lent Brown and Hackett observations remain the most accurate as Alaina shall be capable of showing self-efficacy in counseling, decipher the ideal process of counseling, and ultimately acquire her set goals and objectives. 4. Professional relationship with client a. The appropriate way of ensuring a precise and most appropriate relationship with the client is shall be acquired through integration of constructivism factors to the career-counseling process. Alaina shall thus narrate the hardships she survives in the social, economic, and political environments. The client should applaud the career-counseling development process after defining that the solutions accrued seek to solve the problem at hand. At that point, positive assumptions implicate that the client shall be able to ascertain her devotion to career-counseling profession. b. Multicultural issues are vital to establishing the extent of personal experience that the client purports to have learnt in her lifetime. For example, challenges prevail in the client’s life since both parents are from different nations thus their interests are as well varied. Secondly, Alaina’s is a German thus diversifying the cultural field of orientation. Lastly, ethical issues further prevail when Alaina is forced to protest Orthodox Church for Catholic faith. Other issues include self-concept and ethnicity, which affect personal integrity and the value of ethics. Alaina’s issues range from workplace to family challenges thus; she is capable of delivering competent solutions to related issues (Niles, & Harris, 2013). 5. Goal setting and implementation a. Mainly, presumptions are that the client should always find ease in articulating information related to his problems. Such factors are essential to ensuring positive acquisition of the set goals. Arguably, the client should applaud the career-counseling development process after defining that the solutions accrued seek to solve the problem at hand (Srivastava, 2007). Contracts ranging from 5-40 sessions are the most appropriate as counselor-individual relationship grows accordingly. Eventually, ease shall prevail between the two parties and the counselor shall confidently remit the desired information to the affected clients after having discovered their behavior. b. Vocational assessment and the use of narratives in career counseling are the most appropriate elements of ascertaining the extent of success in enabling Alaina to decipher the actual process of career-counseling program. Qualitative (narrative) approach shall enable the counselor to establish a mode at which client shall relay life stories and experiences thereby setting basis upon which solutions should prevail. Through cohesion, Alaina is able of relaying her stories about the estranged marriage and the resolutions that she sorts as appropriate to overcoming the threat of divorce. Further, narrative approach encourages her to reveal the challenges that she faces in relating to her children. Eventually, she holds the capacity to remit equal advantages to other affected people in the society. However, Alaina assumes the best method to enable the challenged individuals would be giving advice on career related activities. 6. Career and educational information a. There is a need to acquire information on a wide range of career fields. The essence of the approach is the acquisition of skill to evaluate the extent at which specific job groups are beneficial to a given type of individuals with reference to their capabilities. Therefore, Alaina should be knowledgeable of existing jobs, their requirements, the present opportunities in each job group, employment criteria and the size of the region, and the extra resources present for further training programs (International Conference on Teaching and Computational Science, & Wu, 2012). b. The prevalence of information in online community reflects a factor of efficiency in resolving complicated issues (Srivastava, 2007). Therefore, it will be a relevant approach to reach the client with the of occupational information systems as the medium shall enhance relay of information whenever a challenge occurs. Lastly, internet shall serve as a basis for acquiring extra information and solutions related to the problem at hand (International Conference on Teaching and Computational Science, & Wu, 2012). Thirdly, the online community engages an overwhelming population tally thus; Alaina shall gain access to the challenging clientele population and the extent at which she will tackle their problems shall denote to her level of competence (Eliason, & Patrick, 2008). Therefore, internet poses as an appropriate field of evaluating Alaina’s desire to engage in career-counseling program. c. In order to acquire the career-counseling development job, Alaina must enhance her skills in the social and community development studies (Zunker, 2012). Secondly, she should engage on public relations practices as a mode to acquire appropriate skills in tackling clients with different behaviors and character traits. At such a point, Alaina shall be competent to remit counseling services to other clients after acquiring extra skills to the existing ones. With an undergraduate degree in English and having worked as a teacher, Alaina is fit for the counseling job given that her communication skills are sound and effective. Chances are that her background enables her to tackle clients from German and Greek origins. Since her background influences her conception of ideas, Alaina is capable of evaluating problems at a wider perspective due to the abundance of skill she owns. 7. Follow up activities In order to ensure that Alaina’s competence improves accordingly, subsequent evaluations shall prevail whereby observations shall center on evaluation of the clients’ reviews. Therefore, Alaina’s competence in the field of career counseling is dependent on the ease at which her subjects shall be capable of overcoming their problems (Andersen, & Vandehey, 2012). Alaina shall properly account on all counseling programs as a surety to ensuring adequacy. Secondly, she should account on the problems each of the career challenged individual seeks to resolve during the learning process. Thirdly, Alaina should account the possible solutions that she remits to the clients. The method is significant in ensuring that the society acquires the desired solutions to their career development problems (Niles, & Harris, 2013).
