However, the article notes, there are impacts that users of the said products experience considering that some of the products are actual medical procedures. These are summarized as part of the expressions that users attain surprised facial expressions due to the use of botox, thick lips at an advanced age, and the development of young looking grandmothers (Healey). This is made to appear as a social absurdity of having people that defy age through their looks, but not through their actual ages as the medical procedures only work towards keeping appearances that only exist from within.
The last part dwells on how the writer would like grow old, wondering about going the procedural way with the botox and other artificial means of making one look younger or aging gracefully to the age of being an actual granny. In the entire article, there is a steady flow of information on the possibilities that exist with the sole aim to make one look younger than he, or she is. The information provided is quite solid based on the facts in the real world. As a result, one would say that the writer is well informed on current trends that occur in the world.
This is in regard to stating and evidencing the presence of knowledge spreading, even to the young children, on the availability of botox and other medical procedures to shave off a few years off one’s real age. There appears to be no single evidence on the negative effects despite her attempts to bad-mouth the procedures based on superficial evidence.
This makes it an assumption that the effects are not real, but just a part of her opinion based on physical evidence left on the faces of those that engage in the said procedures, such as thick lips, “frightening” facial expressions and breasts that defy the rules of gravity, which is pretty humorous. The article, despite being the opinion of the author, is biased towards one side, which is against the use of cosmetic products despite their “benefits”. The author attempts to maintain a neutral stand based on the use of cosmetic products, but fails miserably as her inclination or reasons against them are quite clear.
There also exists a bias in the issue of growing old gracefully, where the author attempts to make social discrimination on the basis of appearance a negative thing. This violates the middle ground that appears on some parts of the article by referring to women’s problems on their appearance and the need to not be fat. This is not for health reasons but for cosmetic reasons as one is afraid of being labeled as fat. In addition, the author fails to look at the positive side of cosmetic prod
