To numerous populace, office oath may seem just a ritual that confirms the permanence of an individual in a workstation or one’s inclusion in an organization, hence its implications terminates there (Steen & Rutgers 344). This is contrary, since it brings additional meaning regarding the status of an individual who has taken that oath. It arouses more energy in an individual meant to undertake the necessitated responsibilities effectively, hence the employer or the state through the worker attains the set goals.

Primarily, this entails satisfaction to the public or the targeted client, thus augmenting their confidence with the corporation. In this article, Steen and Rutgers distinguishes discrepancy amid instrumental and a substantive approach primarily applied in motivating public staffs (Steen & Rutgers 345). Instrumental approach entails entrusting staffs with certain responsibilities that will eventually evaluated based on efficacy, and if they have attained the intended purpose. Mainly, the state or the employer has the already set purpose and the mode of attaining it, which acts as a comparison.

Conversely, substantive approach people must attain a certain goal or competence that will elevate them from their fellow performing peers (Steen & Rutgers 345). . Consequently, it yields to the application of Skinnerian conditioning, which will ensure that will ensure that the public prefers its services than those of the similar producing corporations. Nonetheless, there are services, which it is the government can offer, thus no competition within its region. For illustration, security meant for its citizens, since the regime possesses control and authority emanating from the state’s constitution.

Either other services encompass healthcare, which it has to assist via subsidy or setting strategies that will govern the execution of roles by diverse fields’ specialists. All these entail excellent services, which the regime has to offer continuously, which prompts it devise methods that will enable it realize its goals. Hence, result to motivation of the staffs that in turn devote themselves to serve the natives as necessitated. Human beings get aggravated via knowing that after attaining a certain target of capacity they will receive a reward, which may have numerous forms.

Mainly, this is positive reinforcement, because the staff after devoting their energy in offering the best; normally their efforts recognized and not disapproved. Office oath primarily offers the workers the necessary contentment that emanates from the assurance of one’s expectations. This implies that one after the oath will augment commitment geared to satisfy the public’s demands. Hence, it is contrary to an individual working as a casual whose core target is to benefit oneself since there is no guaranteed future in his workstation.
