The purpose of this paper is to thoroughly explain reflected best self portrait according to my experiences and how these feedbacks have helped me improve my leadership skills. Analysis of enablers and blockers in my leadership skills in carried out to explain how small errors were corrected to make big differences. Theory of contribution gaps is laid which took me to better conclusions. EXECUTIVE BRIEF: The theory which defines reflected best self portrait tells us that it is the behavior we carry according to the perceptions others carry for us. Likewise I try to give my maximum effort to impress others or prove my talents to others around me. Being extra ordinary means bringing out the best effort to light which instantly highlights the in born talents or skills. This not only requires hard work but being true with own heart is a must. Each individual must have faced these extra ordinary moment which stays in mind for ever and make one alive when remembered. In those achieving moments we all feel the most of ourselves.(Quinn & Quinn, 2002). I felt the same extra ordinary moments in my life when I was truly in winning state in different phrases of my life. Similarly, self portrait is designed by the responses we get through our friends, family and acquaintances, which later is constructed as our personality. Word Best is used to define the capability, strength and skills, which one brings out to deal with a situation. This is how one composes his/her self portrait after getting interacted with the social world and by the responses we get through different experiences which help an individual to compose a self portrait about his or her dealing strengths and capabilities. (Cooley, 1902; Tice & Wallace, 2003). Likewise, I composed my best self portrait after I received different feedbacks from my friends, teachers and from my family. I once thought of becoming a well reputed leader but was not confident of my dream because I was never good at dealing people and get the work done. One thing is to be considered that people around you can be destructive and constructive both in helping you compose your best self portrait. As some people are not good enough to judge someone positively and negative outputs are mostly destructive. But it should be kept in mind that composing Self portrait is not about how people view you but how one judging oneself personally through his socially embedded experiences. (Higgins & Kram, 2001; Tice & Wallace, 2003). My mom was a working lady and used to leave certain duties over me like take younger brother for a haircut, deposit bills and manage grocery when finished. I did all these jobs with little problem in the beginning but later I started getting excellent feedbacks and more responsibilities to handle, which made me think extraordinary of myself and I started envisioning my strength which could be translated in future to achieve my goals. ENABLERS AND BLOCKERS: I have already laid a theory for reflected best self portrait and now I’ll move with reasons that come in path which affects an individual’s efficiency and make it more visible in social interactions. This involves four major aspects which one counters while enabling his interpersonal skills to his extent. These are: Talents: naturally build capabilities. Core Competencies: skills that one holds or unique expertise. Principles: personal values to approach for a particular goal. Identity: includes background like economic stability, gender, education etc. All these four aspects support each other to reach to the maximum height of achievements in our professional and personal lives and this thing is best done when an encouraging organization helps an individual to grow more towards success. Here success is not only termed for economic growth but as a collective gain of social, economical and spiritual abilities. Enablers and Blockers are the elements that encourage or discourage an ability to show up at its best. These elements can be situational or personal. Situational elements can be the system carried out by a functional body and personal elements involve behavior, belief or attitudes towards an opportunity. I went ahead in my school with my business subjects with a vision to become a manager or else will ultimately going to look after my father’s export business. I liked putting things in order and that’s what I did in my father’s office and kept purchase sheets according to their serial number, which impressed my father and he ended up saying” I can see a good manager in you”. This served as an enabler and bucked me up for my future. Some other practical examples were set to make it more clearly for the people who are new to this topic: Tina was working fine when she was coached and supported by her team. After reviewing her reflected best self portrait test results that she attempted, she realized that she finds it difficult to work in an isolated and impersonal environment. Tice and Wallace (2003: 91). Another example is: “One day Denise’s rabbi asks her to paint a mural for the synagogue wall. Denise is surprised when her rabbi tells her, ‘We all think you are a terrific painter. Your father and sisters brag about you all the time.’ When Denise realizes that her family and friends think she is a good painter, she changes her view of herself and starts to think of herself as artistically talented”. These examples tell us that people should concentrate on their performances and make opinions about their competencies in situations and observes their personal elements that create hindrances in progression. PERSONAL VISION: Personal vision is based on the theory which I find theoretically and practically correct. It got easier for me to envision my past experiences of my uplifts, which were completely in result of the reflected best self portrait. I personally find things interesting when my strengths, passion and efforts results in success and I get a positive response from my family, friends and acquaintances. Honestly it is really hard to carry professional jobs when your boss or managers are not giving your satisfactory gestures. This is what exactly happened when I did my internal ship in an office, it got hard for me to complete because of an unnecessary monitoring system even in our lunch time. People with strong nerves can cope but will not for long as they will find their self portrait influenced negatively. So it is better to stay with people around who are morally and socially supportive. One can jump in progression rapidly if he feels free to work in certain limitations. But I repelled which ultimately put negative impact on my growing leadership qualities. CONTRIBUTIONS GAPS: Contribution gap exist when one realizes a lack of fully developed competency or strength. To contribute in filling up gaps and straightening the loops, one should review or reassess his reflected best self portrait because it is more enhanced when one interacts socially and reveals his RBS more vividly. My family and especially my parents helped me fill in my contribution gaps. I realized that I’m weak in confronting people even when I’m right. Among my friends I used to be a completely different person with all my perspectives clear and they were quite positive about my personality and character, but my failure at internal ship made me fell faster. I realized that when I can extra ordinary with my fellows than why not at work, it is just that I have to confront people politely but with firmness and determination. Comments like “good job” and “you can do it” helped me cope. While dealing a task, I incorporate others for their skills, capabilities and values to remind them that their contributions are regularly valued. As a result I was honored and accepted in my dad’s office for my good leadership skills. This feedback boosted my self portrait and will work as an enabler in my leadership development in the long run. CONCLUSION: Discovering your true self is a life long journey. Every new experience brings something good about you. Reflected best self portrait have some formal and informal ways to discover your actual strengths and values. The best way to embrace any new challenge is to analyze your best self portrait and review it by answering certain questions to oneself. Like, I thought of what I really want to be? Is it the right thing to decide? How will I carry on maintaining my standards? Will it be good for people around me in the near future? These self asked questions made it easier for me to take best steps ahead. Setting up a permanent portrait will not be supportive as experiences makes and breaks it which is a continuous life long process like my internal ship broke mine but later it was mended with positive feedbacks and helped me succeed. It starts since childhood and end till life ends. Jolts are somehow needed sometime to make one realize of the fact that he has been ignoring for quite a long time. The magnitude of jolts can vary but it changes the structure of self portrait, which you make it after an experience. (Ibarra, 2003) It depends that what piece of information can jolt an individual like many writers die before they actually get published because they never had any jolt In their life to make them realize of their skills.
