The results of this paper shall be given separately and shall seek to give the salient points of the findings that shall then be matched with that of the ones that Stroop reached based on his own experiments in his seminal paper. The results of this paper proved the validity of the Stroop effect and ensured that the foundations of theories that follow this theory are on firm ground. The conclusion reached in this paper was that the Stroop effect and test effectively understood the interference caused by the colour stimulus.
It also proves the effect of variables such as age and sex in interference. This paper shall look at the effects and causes of the Stroop effect and its importance to the field of psychology. The study of the human mind and neural activities are greatly enhanced by studying the reaction time taken by people to various phenomena. The Stroop effect seeks to demonstrate the cognitive impulses of human beings built up over a period of time in reaction to the study of outside phenomena. It also depends on the knowledge that the person being studied has regarding the colours he is being quizzed on.
The findings that this paper shall seek to derive result from studies conducted on a group of participants who were asked to be a part of the Stroop test that was devised by Ridley Stroop (Stroop). The results obtained from these tests are meaningful since they demonstrate the usefulness of the Stroop test and the validity of the theories they are based on. Experts in the field of Attention theory have argued for modern theories to be researched for and accepted. This test, in such an environment, is significant since it pushes for a theory that has already been proved and, in the process, proves it all over again, thereby ensuring a firm ground for other theories to be built that have the Stroop effect and other theories of the Attention theory as a prerequisite for existence.
The test that this paper is based on thus fulfils the purpose of ensuring the validity of modern psychological theories.
