Depression We live under the challenging processes of globalization. It is very hard for us to put up with daily routine, traffic, work overload, work and life imbalance etc. We are absorbed into the dynamic life and very often we cannot find the way out…we feel bored, nothing is interested for us the world becomes grey. These are the symptoms of depression. According to many medical scholars, depression is the disease of 21st century. Really, every third person suffers from this illness and needs help even if he does not apply to the doctor and his depression remains unknown even to himself. On the one hand, this mental disease was not of great importance and did not play decisive role in the lives of people some centuries ago. Nowadays this disease is relevant to the contemporaries. The price of progress and technological advancement is too high for sure. Now depression is considered to be one of the diseases, which needs special attention of scholars and practitioners. The most intimidating symptoms of depression are inaction, staying in the bed, melancholy. In serious cases people are not even able to get up and dress. When the patients with this mental disease are hospitalized they can even make an attempt of suicide. It is weird, but with no evident reason an individual may feel puzzled and disturbed and in the result he may be dreaming even about death. A life circle may be too challenging for the individual and there can be an intimidating fact to have a lethal final. The absence of control over one’s emotions is an essential factor of depression. People suffering from depression can be puzzled by making a choice what to wear or what to eat. They may stuck at considerations about these simplest things and spoil their own lives and the lives of people around them. Thus, depression is a serious mental disease and it is necessary to take care after individuals suffering from this disease. In accordance with different prognoses of modern scientists and researchers, many people will die with the course of time because of depression. People would pay a too high price for their success. There will be no joy in the result of earning money. People would work hard, but it will not be joyful for them. They would sacrifice their families in the name of their careers. Therefore, depression is the result of an improper distribution of personal values and a changed system of social values. In accordance with the Mental Health Act (2005) there is a need for involvement of family member in the treatment process as well as therapists. In order to deal with depression, it is possible to put mutual efforts to reach spiritual and emotional balance of the patient. There is a need to develop a feeling of understanding and mutual support between the doctor and the patient, to communicate realistic goals of treatment process etc. There are many other important stages in the process of depression treatment. The implementation in the treatment process of ECT is positioned as the most effective therapy, dealing even with the worst forms of depression (Benek-Higgins, Mcreynolds, Hogan & Savickas, 2008). Mentally ill patients have a chance to be treated with a respect and understanding and a friendly atmosphere plays a crucial role in the process of depression treatment. Depression is not incurable and many people are already successfully cured from it. The main thing is to recognize depression and not to hesitate to apply to the doctor. In case the patients are surrounded by help and support of medical personnel, understanding of their family members, then they will succeed for sure and overcome the challenges of depression treatment process. Nowadays it is claimed that both psycho-social therapy and family involvement are crucial elements in depression treatment process. Medication is also involved by the therapists, but is not the only one required measure to be taken. There are a lot of talks with regards to appropriate treatment methods developed for depression, but an integrative approach combining different medical strategies is the most important (Benek-Higgins, Mcreynolds, Hogan & Savickas, 2008). Modern scientists and researchers are puzzled by the growing number of people suffering from depression and they are fighting in the name of searching for the best methods and tools dealing with this mental disease. The innovative developments in the modern medicine enable individuals to overcome the problems of depression. Nevertheless, it is relevant to consider this disease not only from medical perspective, but also in the context of modern social relations. Depression is not only a mental disease, but it is also a social problem of the modern globalized world with its blurred limits of work and life, of pace of modern times. Therefore, in order to avoid this disease, it is better to change the ways of our lives. For example, we should spend more time with our families, go for a walk, go in for sports or have some hobbies. In order to distract us from the working routine or a constant pace for money, people should better focus on their inner selves. Very often we are oppressing our inner selves in the name of our shells’ perfection. We sacrifice our spiritual power in the name of material values accumulation and so on. There are many different examples, the way and individual is able to get his inner self cornered. We cannot release the bounds of the social cage, which is oppressing us. At the same time, we are unable to stop working hard in order to enjoy our free time spending with our families and friends. Therefore, in the modern context of depression treatment there is a need to take complex and integrative measures in order to make the consequences of depression easier or to prevent this mental disease at all. Consequently, depression in the modern world plays a role of a destructor of our inner selves, being a high price for success and progress of the modern people.
