Value Engineering and Value Analysis Value implies maintenance of quality and performance with reduced cost. Value combines price, efficiency, quality and service to ensure economy and customer satisfaction.
It follows, therefore, that value engineering, is a systematic process that includes analysis of the functions of products and process in order to achieve the functions of reducing cost while at the same time maintaining value. Younker (2003) says that value engineering seeks to retain crucial elements of product functions such as quality, reliability and maintainability. Attainment of the mentioned elements calls for an examination of the functions of products and processes by considering alternative cost effective options to attain particular product functions. Value engineering is, therefore, function focused. Advantages that accrue to value engineers is that is that there are more savings, changes effected at this stage are less costly due to fewer limitations and production takes shorter time. Value engineering purposes at maintaining performance at the same time aims at reducing costs.
Value analysis is a methodical procedure of formal and organized process that includes analysis of functions of products to meet customer demands. The aim of value analysis is to secure benefits for an organization (Younker, 2003). In order to yield benefits for the company, value analysis seeks to lower cost of production through improvement of products. Value analysis looks at costs that can be avoided without adversely affecting crucial elements of products and customer preference. It improves effectiveness of processes.
Individuals who lead value engineering and value analysis should possess skills that include, good communication that enables one to hear, listen and look at issues others point of view. Positive attitude that enables one express themselves in a manner that helps one in persuading others. Multi-tasking to allow one knows and act when required, self-organization, stable personality and experience that is accumulated over the years of value analysis and value engineering work.
According to Younker (2003), supply management is controlling of value analysis and value engineering processes, integrating key businesses with an aim of reducing cost, enhancing and speeding operations. Supply management remains important in value analysis and value engineering because it remains part of the orientation process, advocates business re-engineering and integration without specifying the processes.
In conclusion, value engineering presents greater opportunities for reducing costs than value analysis because it is used for new products employing techniques such as design and concept development used to create functional breakthrough targeting mismatches process and design unlike value analysis remains a process and not a technique.

Value Management/ Value Engineering

The aspect of VM operates under a well structured schedule of process. This allows the functional needs and alternative resolutions, linked with their costs to be recognized and incorporated to strict timetable (Pinto 2008, p. 128). 2. Defining the Concepts Value management is different from value engineering in that value engineering entails attaining specific functions at reduced cost or holistic life cost while value management entails the process of defining the actual meaning of value within a confined context in the building industry. The concept of value management ensures that there is definitive agreement of objectives and making sure that the solutions are aligned with these objectives. The value engineering answers on...

Value Stream Analysis (VSM)

...?Within the current era, firms are seeking to leverage each and every means possible to evoke a further level of profitability and/or competitivenessfrom their respective business ventures. Throughout the past several decades, an emphasis on outsourcing, economies of scale, customer satisfaction, supply chain management, cash flow, marketing, and a litany of other techniques have been utilized and focused upon as a means of affecting this increase in profitability and/or competitiveness. However, one such approach that has recently been engaged to a great level of success within many firms is with regards to what is termed as “value stream analysis” (VSM). At its simplest definition and most core element of operational ability, VSM...

... objectives. Value engineering can be applied at any point in a project. Typically, the earlier application means a higher return of investment in time and effort. Tremendous benefits are obtained from value engineering. Benefits are derived comes from the start of the planning, design and the actual construction. There is a great potential of verification if the budget is adequate for the developed program. What is Value EngineeringValue engineering (VE) is defined as "systematic effort that is directed in the analysis of the functional requirements of procedures, systems, equipment, facilities, and supplies for the purpose of achieving the essential function at the lowest total (life cycle) cost consistent with meeting the needed...

Applied Principles of Value Management and Engineering

...PRINCIPLES OF VALUE MANAGEMENT AND ENGINEERING APPLIED ON SBE INNOVATIONS’ PROJECT WORKSHOP WITH AN ESSAY ON RISK MANAGEMENT Executive Summary The initial gist of this paper is that a company known as SBE Innovations Ltd. contacted us and asked our professional services to conduct value management and value engineering studies. This would entail a workshop, functional analysis and other tools and methodologies for a value management and engineering on a proposed recreation and commercial centre to be situated in a suburban area. We could not but consent to this request as we knew the importance of such a project, considering that we have initiated a brief visit to the site and scanned a few studies on the benefits it could create, both...

Engineering analysis 2

...The Runge-Kutta method finds its seeds in the Euler Method for solving ordinary differential equations. Euler method numerically evaluates the differential equation expressed by f(x,y) by taking small steps ‘h’ for evaluation for the interval over which the differential equation is to be solved for ‘y’ in variable ‘x’. It treats the nth step through the following equation: This equation essentially integrates the differential function by dividing it into small steps ‘h’ and multiplying it with the differentially function up to that step to obtain the integrated value of the area under the curve, which lets us evaluate the original function ‘y’. This method, of course, introduces error due to the nature of the treatment that is given...

Its highly encouraged to use different methods apart from the above mentioned since they are able to yield precisely better results, a way to counter this problem.
b Many Laplace Transform software have been developed to solve the differential equations, this software need someone with skills in computers and knowledge in the Laplace so as to use the software efficiently and to be able to guide it to produce error free results. Its encouraged to use the right software that has been tested for to reduce these errors.
d The method is tiresome and one mistake in the process can produce wrong results. This can problem is easily countered by looking carefully at the equations and also making sure each variable is corresponding...

Value Management and Value Engineering

This iterative process provides the special application the more complicated a project is, because of the difficulty of the monitoring task. Furthermore, unnecessary functions and features, and incorrect assumptions regarding other requirements are gradually eliminated in the course of the iterative process (VGHI, 2010).  In VM, this is accomplished by the assembly of a steering team who are tasked with the conceptualization, initiation, and evaluation of the project’s progress; this aids greatly in the systematic execution of the project plan.  Furthermore, training programs to be conducted to foster value awareness, both at the top management level and for corresponding levels of the organization.  Adopti...

Although biomedical engineering has been there in the past few centuries, its significance has only rising in the past few decades. So new I this study that most people are either not aware of it or are not sure of what it is about. Of course, an important thing is to know about its significant, in the present and in the future. The following is a literature review that tried to sample some professional views on the field and tries to create futuristic trajectory of the field in terms of the developments happening within it.
