Duties and Responsibilities of Intern in the E-Commerce - Personal Statement Example

This paper is an of all the duties and responsibilities that I will be assigned to perform as an E-commerce internee at Company X. Following are the major tasks that I will be performing during my X months internship program:• Overall departmental responsibility for the company’s web site:• Electronic NewsletterI will direct the preparation and implementation of a new communication tool for inter-office communication. My duties would include the preparation of the final proposal, budgeting the whole process, staffing the required personnel and finally testing and launching the system.

• Refinement of Current Electronic Communication vehiclesI will be responsible for the launching of three electronic communications tools. The tools include:1. Daily Notices– a daily bulletin board of company announcements sent to subscribers2. Special Announcement – an infrequent publication mechanism issued to all company accounts.3. Media reports – Our Company in the news – sent to subscribers on a daily basis.During the term of the internship, these tools will be re-assessed and refined or collapsed.

• Introduction of new Events CalendarI will be given the task for supervising the introduction of the prototype of an events calendar which will help in reporting the upcoming events of the company to the community. If the prototype is successful, it will replace the current published calendar of events which appears in the company’s newspaper.• Refinement of existing company special purpose on-line databaseDuring my internship, I will supervise the final adjustments which need to be made in the on-line database which is an important reference tool for the customers of the company.

Lessons to be learned:The primary motive of my internship is to gain hands-on experience in the transformation process of a company’s department from a traditional, print-based department to a completely technologically advanced department with the application of electronic communication tools and techniques. I hope to implement my learning, during the internship period, to other organizations by supervising and helping them in introducing appropriate improvements that are cost-effective and efficient.

Among the numerous benefits of interning at Company X, the one and important benefit is the increased awareness and appreciation of the MEC program by my direct supervisor and the President of the company.
