Introduction Security and national defense are pivotal aspects in any nation; this is because they determine it growth. The growth can be in terms of the economic development, political stability and security or even good social and communal integration. In this section the states involved are china, the US and Australia. These are strong nations that are highly reputable in terms of economic and technological advancement, though Australia needs more development so as to be at par with the rest. In this context the assumption made is that the Australian nation is forced to make a choice between the United States and china; which state it can form allies with. An exploration of the relationship between the US and Australia and then the relationship with China will be done in this section so as to ascertain which nation would be of its choice (Wilborn, 2008). It is worthwhile noting that all aspects have to be considered ranging from the economical issues security and social or communal perspectives of the nations. This is to be done because the issues related to security and national defense are of great importance. For instance a nation that is assured of security from its neighboring state will be highly productive especially in its GDP because of increased number of investors. This could be due to the effect that people are given confidence and assurance of protection political instability and lack of terrorism. The foreign investors will therefore find it pleasant to invest in such peaceful states so that they can maximize their profits. The effect will be the development of the infrastructure and advancements in technology. This has a further implication that the per capita income of the nation will be high and endorse the development in the good living standards of the people. The social relations will also be enhanced and therefore promote peace and understanding which will trace back to the developments in the economy, security and political facets (Bartholomew, 2010). Relationship between China and Australia Australia and China share a variety of interests in various sectors; economical, social and communal and political. The rich and diverse Australia-China relationship has been of greater aid as far as the security and strategic dimensions are concerned. It is noted that China has been welcomed to conduct its business activities in the Australian society; this is because it has been actively involved in the facilitation of regional and global trade. This has been done through the contribution of China in the regional and security prosperity of Australia. This burden ought to be addressed clearly so that the nations can share the task of making it certain that there is prevalence of peace, security and understanding in a region (Turpin, 2002). Cooperation usually leads to the successful solutions between the respective regions- this has an insinuation that building relationships and common objectives can be done collectively and therefore curb the transnational threats. China has been on the fore front of enhancing unity because of its pragmatic and cooperative paradigm to the above stated threats. It has played as a significant role in security and other foreign policy issues which has led to the region’s core security and stability. For instance, China is aware that the deterioration of the Korean peninsular can be a fatal and detrimental to the interests of the whole the region, itself inclusive. As stated previously, China operates on pragmatic and cooperative approaches, and has therefore as a result established talks with the main aim of eradicating the North Korea’s nuclear weaponry. This has an implication that it is practically fighting for the need to have peace to prevail in the region. As a result Australia supports China’s extensive efforts of convening the talks so as to promote peace and attain diplomatic resolution (Thomas, 2004). This is an imperative aspect since the facilitation of the constructive re-engagement with the international community that is done by China through the talks between North Koreans will benefit them. Australia being a neighboring state will also benefit from the same because of the provision of security and stability of northeast Asia. Australia has plans of strengthening dialogue with China so as to enhance the endorsement of the WMD arms control and the non-proliferation measures. This means that China’s main ambition is not basically meant to facilitate the security and national defense for itself and the neighboring regions alone but also for global benefit. There are strong links between China and Australia and given that China is among the fastest growing nations economically and endowed with political strength, it is possible that its relations with China will lead to developments in Australia. The growth in the economic and political statuses of China has been facilitated by its cooperation with the neighboring regions. Australia being one of the states that is in good rapport with China is also likely to develop politically and economically. This is expected to facilitate future prosperity and maintenance of a stable regional and international environment. The strong inter-dependent relationships between the various countries of a region will automatically benefit all; this will enhance prosperity and strength which will in turn lead to peace and security; just as it is the case between China and the Australian nation (Thomas, 2004). With the bilateral nature of relationship between China and Australia, it has been noted that the largest export market for the Australian products is China surpassing the US. The investment level in Australia by China is over $2.5 billion and therefore has led to the increase in the economic expansion. Bilateral trade has also facilitated the changes in the social perceptions of the two nations. This has also led to the facilitation of tourism between the two nations and therefore good relations between them leading to security, peace and economic development. The fact that trade and investment are featuring between the two nations might be one of the reasons as to why Australia may opt to have good links with the Chinese nation. This however does not mean that it will stop having links with the US. Education and tourism dominate the Australia’s exports to China and therefore accounts for over two thirds of the exports. These links have contributed to good relationships now and for the future through the facilitation and underpinning of the business, cultural and community links (Thomas, 2004). The Affiliation between Australia and the United States There are good links between the US and Australia, this has facilitated the prevalence of substantial commercial links. This means that as they interact, they can be in a position to aid each other in case there are aspects that need political influence or legal enforcements. There is also the information relating to the Australian and US forces that have worked together in the World War I, Korea and Gulf wars. Their influence in the eastern wars have promoted peace just as China has done and therefore leads to the prevalence of peace and developments in the political, economical and social grounds (Kovalev and Butler, 2004). In spite of the commonality that exists between the US and Australian country, there are aspects and facets where there is lack of coordination and coinciding of their strategic issues. The political and security strategic formulations that China has established that enable the Koreans to opt for peaceful relations is what may make Australia to choose China. This is because security in any region plays a significant role in terms of the economic development and social integration. China has been on the forefront of endorsing the prevalence of security and national defense to almost all the nations in the east; Australia inclusive. This has not only facilitate local trade but also led to the global economic growth (Taylor, 2007). There are no incidence of misunderstandings and disputes highlighted in the association that the Chinese nation and Australia has. However, the links between the US and Australia is faced with restrictions on the trading activities through the setting of quotas and tariffs on their products. This means that their relationship is not as strong as the one that exists between Australia and China. This means that there are policy deficits between the US and Australia which can limit the validity of their relationship as far as the political, security and economic issues are concerned. The perception of the Australian people as regards the US and China will definitely indicate that there is a better link between them and China than it is with the United States. Security and national defense are fundamental aspects in any nation; this is because they determine it growth. The growth can be in terms of the economic development, political stability and security or even good social and communal integration. The analysis shows that China and Australia interacted and therefore attained developments in almost all the contemporary issues that affect human beings; the social or communal, political and economic facets. Tourism between the two nations has been enhanced and therefore good relations between them have led to security, peace and economic development.
