American Politics of American Politics Part I: The video “Street Fight” is all about politics power and authority. This film highlights three major aspects of society those are power, poverty and democracy. The movie highlighted many issues that were plaguing Newark’s communities and those issues were being neglected by the government. This film is to examine that in U.S, people who want to be a part of politics and want to gain the power and claim for it by trying to convey their message that they want to eliminate the corrupt political parties and people through political process. The young mayoral community activist was conveying this message. The government claims that they believe in democracy, and they support elite power so that they can solve the problems with the help of government. Though, it is not possible that only one thing and one power can handle the whole country there is always a government required which can rule the country or society, make rules and can utilize the legitimate force. Because it is a fact that the government can help in making decision and can support the decisions by passing the laws but it cannot solve each and every issue they need legitimate power. However, there are mayors in the society, who try to solve issues of communities and consider the civil liberties and ask for civil rights from government. Similarly, the film is also about the 2002 mayoral elections in Newark, which highlighted some of the issues of the black community. Moreover, the character Coory Booker introduced campaigns to fight from those issues by participating in complex election of 2002 (Curry, 2005). Part II: Occurrence of Politics in Various Situations: It is a fact that political attributions are not just limited to civic life but also personal life. In the case, a citizen gets involved in charitable organizations, community-based organizations or non-profit organizations then they ultimately become exposed to politics. Therefore, it can be well stated that every aspect of associations between members of society provides a condition for the occurrence of politics. In addition, selection or decision-making concerning laws and regulations of all the institutions of the society result in political situations. Recent government actions of shutting down all governmental actions had numerous effects on the civic life. Talking about my own experience, my family planned to get our house renovated as we have been unable to fix it because of poor budgets. As we were expecting allowance paid for the respective month of shutdown, we planned to undertake renovation. As a result of the recent shutdown, my father was not paid with his cheque that delayed our plans. It is surely going to affect us as the heating system of our home was not working fine. It is hopeful that we will be able to get away with any health troubles that might be noted. Perspective about Role of Government: The government should count on the facts, and they should think before taking decisions for the country that whether the decision will be beneficial for the public or not. It is the role of government to make it sure that the individual freedom should not be affected due to any decision by the government. Part III: The main factor due to which I would be more likely to vote in the coming next election of America is that I believe each vote can play a role to raise the voice of an individual. It can help in shaping the future in a better way. It is the fact that the democracy has an essential role in the development of the country if any political party will have a better eligible candidate. Then this candidate can make the country most peaceful and develop most successful nation of the world. Those right candidates who are competent and good enough to govern the country only they can protect the rights of civilians. So, it is understood that the impact of the vote will reflect in the future. There is the existence of those people who never voted or probably will never vote ever. Some are those who voted once in their life but after the facing problems by the chosen government or political party got disgruntled and now they do not find any reason to vote despite the fact that it can be possible that their vote can bring change. There are some other reasons as well due to which many people cannot vote. One reason is that some Americans who cannot vote because they are not registered or may be their registration have lapsed. Then of course, there are those who have just come of age, having understood the need and importance to vote; in today’s modern generation, these are the youth who know their vote will reflect their future. To amplify on the idea that newly eligible voters are now more aware of their voting rights and the impact they can make, it is imperative that political parties take extra initiative to listen to the voices of the youth in particular. Part IV: The U.S government places few restrictions on citizen. Moreover, the government has some constitutions that can limit the powers of government and power of political elites. Though there are a number of ways through which the U.S constitution can limit the powers even make changes in the Bill of Rights. These constitutional restrictions may hinder the effectiveness of government operations. Though, government wants political equality that everyone must obey the rules. However, the restrictions or grants of power may create political instability. It is an evident fact that the government is responsible for providing open chances to citizens as well as political bodies to rule the country by setting their goals in certain areas. It does not only provides a clear indication of power practice within the city but also provides a proper social structure. It should be noted that American constitutions have been marked by a varied yet effective tools and methods to make sure that the practice of power is done without chaos. Some of the most notable methods that have been exercised over the years include Bill of Rights, Separation of Institutions and grant of power (Courtney, 2009). Herein, it can be said that various researchers and political thinkers have presented their addresses regarding these mechanism in the best possible manner. For instance, citizens and political parties have watched a video entitled, “The Making of the Constitution” for a better understanding of the restriction of power that can be exercised. The video presents an in-depth view of the limitation that is associated with the power and its division within the society. The fact remains that some of the politicians have been extremely cynical about these methods and have also criticized effectiveness of these mechanisms. Talking about Bill of Rights, it can be well stated that it has made sure that every citizen can sustain a lifestyle within America that does not limit them to spend it by following their respective rights and notions. Secondly, Separation of institutions has denied the overlapping of instructions that apply to the overall working of the political representatives. Finally, grant of power remains the most effective mechanism so far used by the government because it is a limitation charter for top management in government institutions. It is due these mechanisms that the power politics have diminished in American society and have rather allowed a solemn democracy. References Courtney, P. (2009).
