United Nation Challenges Introduction The United Nations was designed after the World war second in the year 1945. It was formed to maintain peace and prosperity in the society. Formation of the United Nation has many positive impacts since 1945. Because of participation of many countries with United Nations it has become one of the most powerful and efficient administration departments in the world. The United Nations has been dealing with threats, challenges and developments of different countries. During the time of foundation United Nations had a panel of 51 member states it has now increased up to 193. The United Nations is divided into five main principal organizations; The Security Council, The General Assembly, The Economic and social Council, the International Court of Justice and the Secretariat. All the organizations play different role but they have one vision in common that is to maintain the peace and prosperity in society. The United Nation has been fighting against many challenges since its foundation. In the twenty first century also there are many challenges and problems that the United Nation is dealing with. This research paper spot lights the major challenges facing United Nation in the modern world and gives some resolution how the challenges can be minimized so that life on the world can be better with no disputes. Analysis The United Nation was founded for peace keeping purposes in the world in the year 1945 however its functions have not been limited to one purpose only. With the rise of membership with United Nation its responsibilities have increased and diversified from one sector to other. Due to increase in working areas there are many challenges that the United Nation is facing in the present scenario. Here are some major challenges that the United Nation is facing on a day to day basis while maintaining peace and understanding among different countries of the World. The first and foremost challenge before the United Nation and the world is terrorism. Terrorism has been a problem in front of the society from very beginning. Because of terrorism the world has suffered huge loses from commodities to human life. This issue has been a concern for many countries across the world and there have many steps been taken to reduce the effect of terrorism (Mingst & Karns, 2012). Despite of numerous methodologies terrorism is still one of the biggest concerns in front of the world. Terrorist activities are regarded as unsocial activity and most of the countries of the world are suffering from this issue. Since this a problem for the entire world hence it is one of the biggest concerns for United Nation as well (Didsbury, 2003). United Nation has brought forward many laws with acceptance of its member countries to overcome this issue and make the world a safe place to live. There have been many steps taken to reduce the effect of terrorism so that it does not result to a world war or a nuclear war. United Nation has always tried to understand the political structure of a country and in terms support the country with its financial and defensive forces. Moreover, United Nation has brought forward some laws and treaties so that any kind of nuclear or biological weapon war is not resulted with the ill effects of terrorism. There are some other steps that United Nation should take so that the problem of terrorism can be neutralized. The second most important challenge in front of the United Nation is Medical related issues. Ensuring the prosperity of Global Health is one of the responsibilities of the United Nation. There are many diseases in the world and many people die out of diseases unknown, mostly in the developing countries. United Nation has always been a support hand for many countries in order to maintain the balance of atmosphere and to supply vaccines to places where there are death reports due to any disease. The Red Cross is a part of the United Nation and they are very much visible in many countries from time to time. Their job is to ensure that each and every place in the world is disease free and there should not be any death reports because of any unknown diseases. Despite of many measures taken by United Nation people keep dyeing because of unknown diseases in the world so it still remains one of the biggest challenges for the United Nation. Another important challenge that the people of the world have been suffering from is the non communicable diseases and the Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome. Every year United Nation takes special methods to reach to people and give them the knowledge about these diseases (Hershow, 2005). Still in many developing countries the rate of these diseases is very high. Hence this challenge still remains to be one of the important concerns for the United Nations. Another important concern before United Nation and the world is the Global pollution and the environmental issues. As per predictions by scientists it has been seen that Global Pollution is one of the most important concerns because life on Earth is becoming a problem. It is quite observant with the change in temperature in different seasons (Radha & Sankhyan, 2002). It has been seen the temperature is rising constantly day by day. The ozone layer of the atmosphere is depleting because of huge uncontrolled pollution. There are many steps take to reduce the impacts of pollution however pollution is still in effect and keeps to be one of the major challenges for the world and the United Nations. The United Nation has taken many steps to reduce the effect of pollution by circulating many remedial ways in many countries so that those can be implemented as laws by many countries (Lewis & Nocera, 2006). The United Nation is still worried about the problem because there is very limited control among people regarding pollution. Another important challenge that the United Nation is facing is the lessening of women population and educational sector. This sector has been one of the most important concerns for the developing countries. Due to lack of education among people in many countries they lead to miserable life resulting less economic growth of a country. Education is one of the most important things in life of people (Annan, 2000). Lack of education brings poverty and misery in life. Moreover in developing countries it has been observed that women population is suffering. Hence education and women empowerment go hand in hand because with knowledge the value of women and rise of national economy is understandable with a clear prospect. It has been a concern of the United Nation so that there is gender equality all over the world (Gleick, 2003). Another important factor in front of the United Nation is the Global Aid. During flood and famines the U.N. supplies goods like food and medicines to people suffering in prone areas. This distribution sometimes is unequal because it is not possible for them to supply in every part of world because of various problems. Because of this issue there are many conflicts between many countries (Banerjee & Sharma, 2007). United Nation should take effective steps so that the distribution can be proportionate and everything planned can be executed successfully. The challenges discussed above are the most important concerns in front of United Nations. Moreover there are other challenges that have major impact on the working atmosphere of United Nation. Some of the important challenges as addressed by the Deputy Secretary-General are to conduct classical peacekeeping operations in the present posts and combat zones in Afghanistan. This is a great challenge in front of the United Nation because the population of Afghanistan is not too happy with the movements of United Nations. For development of human rights and maintain peace in the society they need to deal with aggressive forces (Fauci, 2001). The political challenges are the most important challenges for the United Nation because their current work culture is not understandable by common people hence there needs to be effort made in order to make people understand the complexity of certain and political movements and its advantages in future prospects. Discussion From the above analysis it is clear that there are several challenges in front of United Nation starting from environmental pollution to natural calamity and terrorism to maintain peace in society. These are not the only concerns that bother the United Nation. There are certain other factors including the political decisions that are taken by the U.N. time to time in order to maintain peace and prosperity in the world. Undoubtedly U.N. has taken several steps to help many countries in many ways. However the initiatives taken have not been enough to meet the demand of the world. Previously U.N. had many other challenges and many of them have been resolved but these are some of the important concerns that still persist (Sanderson, 2013). According to many senior leaders of U.N. the national prosperity cannot be complete unless all the countries participate with them under the same roof in the same forum. The involvement of more and more countries will make U.N. strong and the connectivity will be faster and better than what it is today. The U.N. secretary should be more approachable to everyone in the world so that the challenges that have been discussed can be reduced and any further challenges can be noticed beforehand so that the life on Earth does not get disturbed by any kind of anti-social activities. The current challenge before United Nation is a result of negligence by people across the globe. The ideas that have been implemented by the administration had not reached completely to people of all level. Hence there should be more appropriate ways to reach people so that the purpose of U.N can be completed. The environmental issues for an example has been one of the most important concerns before the world, people know the circumstances and the future impact. Global Warming can cause an end to the life on earth. Knowing these facts there are very little precautions taken by people in the modern world. The ideas generated by U.N. should be appropriately followed by people so that life can be sustained and challenges can be minimized. Other issues like supplying aids to flood prone areas can be better if co-operation is there between people. The global aids do not reach appropriately because of hurdles caused by people of some areas. Terrorism can also be neutralized by participation of men and women in positive activities against terrorism. There needs to be a proper understanding between the people of different countries and the administration of United Nation. Cooperation between people of different countries will help to meet the challenges of U.N and at the same time of the world. Proper knowledge should be spread by U.N so that everyone can know the reason and the impacts of movements generated by U.N. moreover there should be transparency in the work culture of the U.N. Conclusion The analysis and discussion mentioned gives some of the important facts about U.N. The working atmosphere, the steps taken by U.N., the goals they have reached and some goals they have yet to reach. This research paper is based on a detailed study how the U.N is being affected by certain challenges of world and how these challenges can be minimized in order to obtain an error free peaceful and prosperous society. The twenty first century is full of complexities and problems. These problems can be taken care of with participation of more and more people in a common public forum. Each and every country has own diversities and their own way of handling problems. But without working together under the same roof there cannot be any kind of social and economic development in the society. Sharing of ideas can only make the world a better place to live in. And United Nation has been trying to connect people of different societies together in order to form a complete and developed society. Hence the challenges of United Nation is a global problem and it can only be resolved if there is participation of people of different entities to a form an error free, peaceful and complete world for living.
