Power of China The 21st century is a time that society observes the acceleration of issues such as globalization. Thecompetition among countries is visible with the developing countries striving to transform to a developed state. The developed countries, on the other hand, struggle to be better as each year passes. The international competition is visible through changes in the considered resources of different countries. The position of any state of the world is determined by the rise and fall of its national power. Let us consider the national power of china, which is explainable in terms of its population, natural resources, cultural solidarity, and military power among other things. Population China has a large population estimated to be over 1 billion. The economic growth in china is due to the massive population. When compared to India which has massive population china is powerful in the sense that most of the Chinese population has a high level of literacy. It is also evident that the Chinese population does favour the female gender because women in china are in the work force when compared to India. However, reports show that china is likely to face an economic trouble in the future when most of its private capital will go to investments such as paying the retirees pensions. The national census reports also indicate that china has effectively managed to control the growth of population by the one child policy. The reports also show that the level of literacy also increased, which puts china in a good position. However, the aging form part of the bigger population, which could cause, a contraction in the labour force in the coming years. Natural Resources China is powerful in terms of its possession of natural resources. China is in a temperate zone, and it does control a lot of mineral and energy wealth into central Asia. Analysts show that china with its powerful influence is slowly turning to hegemony of the eastern hemisphere. This characteristic can be compared to the U.S, which is also having hegemony over the western hemisphere. Angang and Hongua conclude that, china is a mighty power since its natural resources ranks the country number two in the world. The country ranks second after the United States in terms of the availability of natural resources (Angang and Hongua 27). The innovation and technological advancements of china have risen over the years this is a reasonable course in the growth of the country. Economic Development The Gross domestic product measures the economic development of any country. The GDP calculation uses the Nominal exchange rate. The limitation in this is that it underestimates the National power of developing countries while overestimating the national power of the developed countries. Another economic indicator is the purchasing power parity, the purchasing power of China as calculated by World Bank since the year 1993 has been steadily rising (Angang and Hongua 26). The GDP of china in the year 2010 was at $5.88 trillion. The purchasing power parity of china was at $10.09 trillion the growth rate at 10.3%. This figures when compared to the U.S economy in 2010 still creates a large gap between the two countries, however, china has a legitimate chance of becoming the second largest economy if it overtakes Japan (Angang and Hongua 4). This figures show that china ranks among the successful countries in the world in terms of economy. The economy of china as reports indicate is successful due to its exports, which in the year 2010; the trade surplus hit an 18-month high of $28.7 billion in the month of July. China’s massive population also supports this success. Human Capital The economic growth of china is because of the human capital. Human capital in china is believed to affect output as well as ensuring regional equality is reflected in the country’s economy. In the past years, there has been an observable growth in the human capital in china this can be attributed to the population growth observed in china. The growth in human capital is attributed to various factors such as rural urban migration, an increase in the retirement group as well as urbanization (Angang and Hongua 26). Urbanization enables one to achieve quality education. The per capital human capital of china has shown an increase 2.7 times from the year 1985. The growth rates for china’s per capita human capita show a high growth rate when compared to U.S and Canada. In Canada, the per capita human capital reduced at 0.2% from the year 200-2007, whereas the U. S per capita human capital has remained constant. This puts china in a better place to grow economically when compared to these other countries (Angang and Hongua 26). Cultural Solidarity The Chinese people value their culture in the sense that wherever they are the Chinese culture gives the Chinese people their identity. The interaction among the Chinese people remains table over long periods. This maintenance of culture among the Chinese people is what distinguishes the Chinese people from the rest of the world. This also serves to strengthen the Chinese people in terms of unity and solidarity to their country. The Chinese culture comprises of three basic components, the traditional culture, the communist philosophy and the western value. An understanding of the Chinese culture gives an understanding system of operation of the Chinese people. It is evident that the culture of the Chinese people is changing. Military China has recently showed a growth in its military capability. The Chinese government has been transparent about modernizing its military base as well as increase on its defence spending. China ranks among the largest militaries in the world this is attributed to its inventory of key weapons. Chinas control over the east, South China Sea and strait of Taiwan is evident, but it is not seen as a threat to the United States. The rise of china as a super power has been evident (Angang and Hongua 30). Let us conclude that the rise of power of the Chinese government is not a form of threat to the super power but analysts see that this rise is for a good intention. The Chinese people have the goal for acquiring wealth and minerals to cater for humanity. Reports show that Chinas national power has been rapidly rising this is shown by the improvement of its economy as well as its environment. This has proven to be a threat to countries such a Japan India and Russia. However, the struggle for china to march the United States league is still exceptionally clear that china could claim the number one country in terms of national power. The country still has a lot of matters to deal with in attaining this position.
