The politics of Great Britain went through the situation identical to the above discussion, and the axis of British politics consisted of three major parties since 20th century, which included Labour Party, Conservative Party, and Liberal Party—the leadership of all of these three parties always helped in respect of tailoring national policies and implementing them for the best interest of the nation. It was not the case of contemporary times only, but also the same could be observed by going through the inter-war history of Great Britain.
As discussed in the previous chapter that WWI had brought death and destruction in its wake and entire Europe was in the state of bereavement and grief because of the heavy death toll on the one hand and economic unsteadiness, depression, and downturn on the other. The decade of the 1930s was one of the most crucial eras in the history of England, which demanded complete consensus on all issues of national and international significance. It was the time when there was uncertainty, joblessness, social insecurity and turmoil all over the country, and the people were waiting for a savior, which could combat the most wobbly and unsteady state of affairs prevailing in the England of that era.
The nation was undergoing three serious problems, which included:All these problems were more than enough to perturb the state of affairs of the country. Under such precarious circumstances, the British people looked at their leadership in order to overcome the disastrous situation of financial decay. In other words, the British public required a visionary and dynamic leader, which could devise such policies that might lead them towards peace, harmony, stability and economic prosperity in general.
All the three above-mentioned major political groups launched aggressive canvassing and sought the votes of the masses during the winter of 1928-29.
