New Perspectives and Issues in Educational Language PolicyI would use the knowledge obtained during this course to lobby the English Language Learners to be more open minded when learning. In addition, I would encourage them to appreciate diversity in their groups as this strengthens their ability to learn (Shohamy, 2001). This is through sharing of different cultural aspects which make learning English more interesting. I would use the strategies of teaching content to overcome different barriers that hinders the students to understand the language.

This will be achieved through developing a personal relationship with students who struggles in class to learn the language. In addition, through the knowledge on unique cultural and linguistic background, I would encourage the learners to share with me their cultural background’s information. This would make it easier to know how to handle them. This is because the cultural elements have a major impact on the learning ability of the students. On the other hand, the learning assessments would enable me to be more careful when dealing with some aspects that I am not well conversant with.

This would be significant in ensuring that my strategies do not affect the student’s attitudes towards the English course (Walden University, 2010). Through this course, I am well versed with how to handle my attitude in order not to affect the attitude of the student’s towards the course. Furthermore, through this specialization, I have been able to learn how to handle myself and deal with student issues. This is very important in ensuring that my behaviors does not deviate the students’ attention from the course.

Furthermore, it has changed my beliefs concerning the course and the strategies to be used to achieve success. Therefore, when handling the students, I am more confident and able to learn the students’ reactions concerning my actions or teaching strategies. As a result, I am able to know when to make changes in order to keep the students glued to the topic of study. Through this course, I have developed immensely. I am now more mature and understand the interests of the students and how to incorporate my personal goals with those of the students.

In addition, I now understand how to ensure that personal life of the students does not affect the ability to learn English. Through teaching special needs Latin Males, I have been able to use the skills learned in the course. I have therefore, been able to learn that I need to handle my emotions more carefully in order to ensure that they do not affect my teaching practice. Through interacting with Walden colleagues, families and other education professionals, I have been able to learn that educating the students need a holistic approach.

This is through involving all people who interact with the students. Furthermore, teaching students is a learning process; therefore, I need to be open minded in order to learn from other people including students’ parents (Cooper, Shohamy, Walters, & Cooper, 2001). I will become actively involved with colleagues, community stakeholders, and families through sharing ideas on how to teach and handle the students. For instance, meeting the parents in order to understand how to they interact with their children.

For the purpose of professional growth, I will pursue areas related with teaching students with learning disabilities. Furthermore, I will participate in various forums by successful professionals in order to learn on how to improve m skills. Moreover, I will be actively involved in campaigns to sensitize the community on the need to become involved in the learning process of their children.
