Worldview Beliefs Personally, I believe that the best things to do in the world is to treat others as I would like to be treated, and I learned about this not only in church through Christian teachings, but also from my family, who are very firm believers in this philosophy. This is one of the moral rules, which determine my view of the world and it is my belief that the world would not be the same for me if I did not practice it. Ever since I learned of this rule, I have always been very sensitive of my actions, making sure that I know how my actions are going to affect others. Moreover, it has always been my expectation that whenever I did a mistake, people would view it tolerantly because I did not wish to do it intentionally but it just happened by accident. This expectation is what encourages me to treat others who have made mistakes directly affecting me with tolerance because I believe that there is no need to hold a grudge over something, whichis already done. Furthermore, I am always tolerant with other people because no matter what I am able to do, there is no way I could be able to change the behavior of others because the change of behavior is always a personal matter. The best thing that I can do is to show others how to behave towards me by example and that is the reason why I treat others, as I would like to be treated.In addition, Itend to get very upset when others get annoyed with me over things, which are largely very unimportant, but I always do my best not to do the same to others. My respect and acceptance of the differences of others is also one of the fundamental bases of my worldview and this I try to put into practice in as many situations as possible. This perception has come from my interaction with many different people who come from different backgrounds and cultures, which are at time nothing like the one I was raised in. It is my belief that everyone is entitled to their own viewpoint in all the aspects of life because we all have the capacity to think for ourselves and be independent. I think that one should take the time to listen to the opinion of others and respect these opinions even if they do not necessarily believe in them. I find that there is a great benefit in learning about others because it helps one to have an open mind towards everything in the environment in which they are. Doing so has also helped me to develop very close friendships with people who I would otherwise have not have had any time for and this has ensured that I have developed friendships which have filled my life. It has enabled me to develop the necessary social skills to interact confidently with people from different backgrounds on an equal basis without any feeling of superiority on my part. Many people consider the ability not to give up or perseverance a virtue and in fact, the majority of the world religions encourage it in their followers. Perseverance, from ancient times, has been one of the keys to success and it is very difficult to achieve any level of success without it. I believe that it involves the ability to be committed to a task that one has set for him or herself, to be able to work hard towards it, and to have the patience and endurance to make sure that this task is fulfilled satisfactorily. Never giving up also involves the ability to be able to bear the difficulties that one is facing calmly and without any complaint because these tend to explain why many fail to succeed in whatever they are doing. A good example of perseverance is the one that the Wright Brothers had when they were attempting to make a flying machine. Many people had no faith that they would be able to make it and in fact, some even tried to discourage their attempts. Despite all this, the Wright brothers became even more determined to achieve their goal, it is this ability of never giving up that made them create the first airplane, and that is why we are able to travel by air today. There are many definitions of beauty but one of the most of these definitions tends to be based on the physical aspect. It is my belief that beauty comes from the inside of the person and not from their physical appearance because what may seem beautiful to one person may not necessarily be so for another. In my experience, I have come across some people who had great physical beauty but lacked the beauty of personality that would have made them perfect. For me, true beauty is based on one’s personality and I consider those people with good personalities to be very beautiful people because their beauty is not displayed physically but through their thoughts and actions. There are many ways through which one can know whether a person has inner beauty or not and this is mostly done through looking at their actions. Inner beauty is all about the simple things that one does almost unconsciously and those around them only notice it. What a person looks like at the present does not matter because as we age, our looks also change so that although we may have once been physically beautiful, with time, this beauty is eroded by age and what is left behind is a shadow of what we once were. However, I believe that inner beauty lasts forever because our character and our actions tend not to change as fast as our physical beauty does. An example of this is the way people care for others and one of these is my best friend who has influenced my worldview of this matter. She is a kind, loving, and helpful person and she has the ability to make others feel better, which makes her a treasured friend to have. In conclusion, I believe that the world would be a better place if only all of us could treat each other with respect and tolerance. We should seek to understand and appreciate that people have diverse opinions due to their backgrounds and experiences in life before passing any judgment, as this would stop many of the prejudices which some of us have against others. In addition, I am of the opinion that for people to experience greater success in life they have to develop the virtue of perseverance considering that every undertaking has its challenges. In addition, inner beauty as opposed to the physical outer beauty is very important since it outlasts the later. Moreover, inner beauty concerns inherent good characters other than the outward impression, which is often deceiving. Hence, personally I believe that the combination and possession of these virtues and traits will enhance understanding among people of the world and with this new understanding, the world peace, which has been so elusive due to the various religious and political tensions, will finally be achieved.
