Art Censor Summary: Journal 1 The censor of art is a reflection of the censor’s perceptions rather than ideology. The censor of art deprives of the artistic work of creativity it possesses. Censorship destroys the creativity and intelligence portrayed by a piece of art. Art must be free of any interference like speech. The freedom enjoyed by speechmakers should be replicated for the art designers. A showcase of art is similar to expression. Nudity is a controversial matter among many people with regard to art. However, nudity exposure in art is right, but only for adults. Children should not access such form of art because of morality issues. Art qualifies as a measure to gauge morality in society. People behold art, and they can tell when it is counterproductive and when it is inspiring. Additionally, there is no art, which does not involve human or animal body form. As a result, it is plausible to put art in good context before censoring a piece of art. Additionally, any form of art, which is defamatory and infringes on other people’s rights should be censored (Lord, 2010). The form of art considered improper by many people should also be censored given that public opinion guides the best practices in society. Reflection In my opinion, art adds value to life in many respects. It is the source of decor for designers and it informs the architects on the best architectural design to adopt to establish a state-of-the-art structure. The concept also makes people to appreciate other people because art surrounds every aspect of life including people, clothing, homesteads and other domestic items. Art sets the pace for all professionals because every undertaking requires some degree of art, 1. Art should not be censored Art needs no censorship because when it is censored, it ceases to be art. This is because art is accompanied with uniqueness and awe. People should change their mindset in order to have a different view on nudity with regard to art. According to Lord (2010), nudity should not be presumed to mean sex because sex is an act and nudity is just nature. Art should not be censored because most old arts are fine. For instance, the pictorial art are usually about world wars should not be censored. This is because such art depicts victory and boldness for the past warriors. In this regard, censorship dilutes the historical value of the art. Even so, art should be censored when it is explicitly obscene and has a potential of causing arousal of people viewing the art. Obscene art leads to moral decadence especially when minors view it. In this regard, art should be packaged using sophisticated classification systems, which filter and censor obscene images, which are unfit to display to the audience. There should be appropriate mechanism in place to control the form of art displayed to the public. Vulgar art should be censored to suppress violence and animosity among people. History is rich of art that was censored because of its inappropriate nature. For instance, Debaucheries statue and infant Faun were censored. Frederick William created the artwork during the 1880’s. The Alaska Art Gallery Should Not Have Been Closed Alaska art gallery should not have been closed because the art was good. The decision of closing the gallery was ill informed because art must be looked art and it should not be construed to imply immorality. Additionally, some of the artists were jailed because of their exposure of various provocative images to the public domain. Any form of art, which show cases racism, pornography, torture and graphic violence, should be discarded and censored. Peace and harmony need first priority in the creation of art. Art should not feature violence in art unless adults watch it. In this regard, there should be selection of audience for a particular form of art. Children should not look at nudity and other provocative forms of art. Summary: Journal 2 The concept of borderland means that the culture of a certain region can be practiced in another region. The factor leads to the development of a common culture shared by all the communities involved. Consequently, there is congruency and harmony in operation, language and beliefs. The social aspect of people enhances interactions, which defeat the cultural borders. In fact, the support of an individual’s cultural belief is a motivation and a social booster. For instance, the arrival of Euro-Americans in America created pressure for the Native Americans. The Native Americans were compelled to co-exist with the Settlers including the Indians. There was need for social interactions and intercultural discussion among the members. In this regard, the cultural borderlands were lost. Additionally, there was exchange of various forms of cultural art and aesthetics. Cultural borderlands exist but the cultural interactions are closing the gap created by the cultural borderlands (Allan, 2014). This is an important aspect of co-existence within a societal setting. In the modern world, technological advancement has made interactions easy. The advent of social media provided a social platform. The platform led to a synergistic culture among the members of the network irrespective of race, true, belief, religion and social class. Reflection In my opinion, cultural borderlands are usually broken by networking, which enhances interactions among people from different races and nations. Moreover, cultural parity boosts people’s aspirations and confidence in their respective paces. Ties are caused by the social interactions made by the people. The graphical user interface boosts cultural interactions from any part of the world. Other channels break the cultural borders exist. Intermarriages break the cultural borders and create new cultural bonds. The channels have the capacity to rectify cultural challenges due to technology-based exposure. Cultural Borderlands Cultural borderland is the thin line between the culture of a region and the culture of a neighboring region. The aspect for cultural borderland is essential in the determination of the form of practices to adopt. The use of internet is one of the modern developments, which enhance quick dissemination of information. Information sharing also break the cultural borders hence creation of harmony among people from different races, tribes and cultural affiliations. Language helps break cultural borders because language barrier automatically bars people from interacting with each other. The assessment and evaluation of technology is essential in the sharing of information because technology enables virtual systems of communication. Hair story ‘Hair history’ is a critical subject for many people. In the past, people attached high value to their hair because they believed that hair had symbolic means like fortune. The revolutionary changes with regard to hairstyles adopted by different people reveal that hair is important. The indigenous people sued axle to straighten hair.
