Earth Religion vs. Space Religion Table of Contents Earth Religion vs. Space Religion Table of Contents 2 Introduction 3 Criteria to Determine Religious People 3 Religious People in Earth 4 Conclusion 6 References 7 Introduction The study of earth proves that the people are religious. The major characteristic of any religion is unconditional faith. The faith is differs from religion to religion. The faith in this sense implies faith for god, faith for certain activities and faith for themselves.
Religious people do certain acts that prove that they are religious. The faith and acts passed on to people from generation after generation by the elders. These faiths at times deny the science, ‘laws of nature’ and form miracles. In earth, the main purpose of people to be so religious is to learn certain ethical principles, bond, activities and holy things. This report is presented with a view to describe the characteristics of religion and judge if the earth is religious or not (Religious Tolerance, n.d.).
Criteria to Determine Religious People There are certain criteria which determine and describe a religion: Faith in God: Faith in god is the first criterion of religion. With regard to faith in god there are three rational opinions in the people of earth which are Atheists, Theists, and Agnostics. Atheists do not have any faith in god, Theists have faith in god and Agnostics believe the reality about god cannot be proved or challenged. Code of Conduct: It is another criterion of religion. Every religion has a set of ethical learning and significance in various appearances.
The code describes the way to perform the actions for survival. Holy Story: Every religion has certain kinds of story which is one of the major criteria of religious people. Every religious people trust those stories which are also known as legend or saga. According to those stories, there are several incidents in the earth which is supposed to be done by certain holy powers. Religious Practice: Every religion consists of certain actions and rituals that are to be believed as serving and pleasing the god or other holy powers.
There are certain timetables for those acts and are repeated regularly (WebRing, 2011). Religious People in Earth Earth is a religious planet as the behavior of people in this planet matches the above criteria. In earth, there are several categories of creed according to religious criteria, for example: Hindu, Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Sikh and Buddhist among others. With regard to ‘faith in god’ the Christian people have faith in Jesus, Buddhist people have faith in ‘Gautama Buddha’, Jewish people have faith in ‘Yahweh’, and Sikh people have faith in ‘Guru Nanak Dev’ which they think as their god (Vroom, 1989).
There are certain particular religious practices in every religion which makes the Earth people religious. With regard to Christian people, they do not follow any schedule for prayer and they believe anyone can pray with pure heart. Hindu people follow different religious practices such as they crease their arms in front of god, and abide certain methods for worshiping god. Muslim people follow different practices such as sitting with ‘sajda’ hands and pray. The third observation of people of earth is the holy story.
The Christian people believe the holy story depicted in ‘Bible’, likewise Muslim people believe in the story of ‘Quran’, similarly Jewish people believe in the holy story of ‘The Hebrew Scriptures’, and Hindu believe in the story of ‘Bhagavad Gita’ (Gupta, 2011). Conclusion Thus, from the study of behavior of earth people and their beliefs it can be concluded that the people of earth are quite religious. Religion can be best understood by the way how different people live their lives.
Though there are different perceptions about the existence of god, people in earth believe in their own deity and worship them according to the religious methods. In simple words, it can be said that religion teaches people to become obedient, humble, kind and trustworthy. Religion makes people different from other living creatures in earth. It would not be wrong to say that without religion people in earth cannot exist. References Gupta, R., (2011). Sanatana Dharma… a.k.a. Hinduism. Chinmaya Mission DFW.
