The texts were written in Latin and the books that were published were only those that had been approved or written by the church. Since the church declared and controlled literary movement, there were no voices thrown upon them. However, upon the period of the Renaissance, Europe’s literature revolution began. People started to write books in vernacular language. Through this, common people found the books more accessible even without knowing Latin, and criticisms and criticisms on the church and politics began to rise. People begin to argue upon what is true and what is written in the Bible, from which the texts are written and published by the church itself for which, by reason, were thought by the people to be politically biased and thus, not true. One clear example is tackled by Niccolo Machiavelli. In his “The Prince”, he rejected the common Christian view that the state is an entity under the control of divine power. These brought changes as to exemplifying the vanishing of the control of the church upon literature.
Along with the Renaissance, the movement of the Protestant Reformation brought extreme behavioral changes on the Greek and on the Roman cultures and traditions and shaped the whole of Europe’s history. These changes were triggered by Europe’s views and religion. As Christianity flowered during this era, the political power and control to govern the states fell into the hands of the Catholic Church. However, as the church gain control of the states over the years, several protestant movements flowered and began to question the power of the church. The event that caused these reformations was the fact that national monarchial powers rose through the executions and abuses of the power of the Papacy. Such events like this made divisions, strengthened corruption, and established a great loss of confidence within the Catholic Church itself as several secular-minded priests began to corrupt the church upon abusing their political powers. Accordingly, this led to the questioning of the power of the Pope and the political issues within the church and people began to voice out increasing calls upon the reform of the church and the clergy.
During and after the period of Renaissance, the period of realization and rebirth, several changes and advancements are made not only with the church but also in the scientific revolution. This period enlightened the Greek and the Roman view in science, geometry, algebra, astronomy, and philosophy. Inventions were made through the texts written by scholars in the earlier ages that were recovered. These inventions brought influences upon the cultures and mind setting of the whole of Europe and the rest of the continent. Several marked advancements were of Galileo and other Pagans that somehow turned the common views of early ages.
