of Lecturer 19 June Project: Culture The region that a country is placed plays a great role in the kind of culture or way of life of the people that live in that region, but this is not the case in the United Arab Emirates. This country has become a tourist center of some sort for people of different cultures, religious background and different countries of the world. The United Arab Emirates has become a country that is tolerant of all cultures and religions as it has allowed different kinds of people without forcing any kind of rules on them.
One would have expected the country to be a strict Islamic country, but this is not the case. Hence, it is correct to state that the United Arab Emirates is a country that is a culture melting pot with exception to the rules as the country does not comply with the cultural rules of the region that it is situated (Reiser 90). The port city of the United Arab Emirates, Dubai is a clear example of how the country is a true melting pot exception to the rules. Abu Dhabi, the largest city and the capital of the UAE is also a melting pot that has people of different nationalities, ethnicities and cultural background coming together (Solomon).
The level of literacy in a traditional stable environment differs from the literacy level in fast pace new world country. In a traditional stable environment, there is a contentment amongst the people with regards to the learning culture of the people, while in a fast paced new world country, the people are always willing to learn more due to the rapid growth of learning in that kind of environment. One could then describe a fast paced environment as a sophisticated world in terms of learning, while the traditional stable environment is stable but stagnant in terms of learning and relative to the fast pace environment new world country.
Thus, the level at which learn is learned varies across environments and the learning culture in a traditional stable environment is quite low when compared to the fast paced environment. The rate at which the fast paced environment moves would easily leave people that are guilty of not learning anything behind and people that cannot cope in a fast pace new world country would find it easier to integrate themselves into the traditional stable environment (Solomon). In spite of all these, the UAE still keeps its Islamic faith and religion and the citizens of the country are still as religious as the other countries of the Middle East region.
The UAE is just a country that allows people of different nationalities and cultures to practice whatever religion or culture they would want to practice as long as it does not affect the practice of their Islamic religion. Abu Dhabi, the capital city of the country has more mosques than any other Muslim nation and this shows that the country strictly observes and holds on to their Islamic faith (Field 99). The rules that are violated are the ones that relate to women. Women in Islamic country are usually made to play second fiddle to their male counterparts, but this is not the case in the United Arab Emirates as women are given equal opportunities as men.
There are even cases that women outnumber men at the Emirati universities. The fact that the country allows the people of different countries that come to the country to practice the religion of their choice shows the extent at which the country does not follow the pattern of other strict Islamic country.
