Extract of sample "Purpose of Networking"

This paper intends to explore the topic of ‘networking and for this purpose, the author has interviewed three persons: Lindsey (marketing), Keith (accounting) and Holly (hospitality). The results of the interview are analyzed.

I am a first-year student doing a business administration course. To understand the application of various concepts I intend to conduct interviews with different department heads. From this interview with Lindsay, I understand that Neil Lindsay is a graduate of St. Mary’s and also he is the creator of Lindsay Marketing links. He has also spent almost the first 15 years of his profession in various sales and marketing organization roles through many leading business establishments. Because of the challenging nature of marketplace management, he likes to attempt something innovative. Networking is one of the most important aspects that he perceives to be relevant to today’s marketing environment. I understand that the combined efforts of all the areas in the company will help him to attain the organizational aims effectively. Networking between Lindsey (marketing), Keith (accounting) and Holly (hospitality) will help to enhance the quality of personal and career development.

I also understand that career development is one of the most important things that every person associated with the company must develop. This way, the work one does during study hours help to improve personal and career life. Face-to-face interaction, that is interview method and telephonic interviews with various people in the company will help me to obtain immediate feedback. Lindsey, Keith and Holly are different people they handle different departments so the personalities of these people are also different. To overcome all the risks associated with the company marketing manager must choose the most appropriate method and also listen to other people’s ideas and views this will help to increase the value of the company. Lindsey has held various positional in the cultural area which has given attention to delivering viewers and media treatment for visual art, dance, theatre, and finally the various festival procedures.

Key marketing and various Public Relations abilities consist of:
- Developing exact, modified marketing movements in the region of new goods or events.
- Creating the most excellent and proper brand name and identity for businesses and/or goods.
- Receiving the most from actions, partnerships and the media in the course of superior Public Relations.
- Realizing innovative design resolutions for campaigns and proceedings, helping to attain the most excellent in print, publicity and digital and straight marketing.

Interview with Lindsay helps me to identify that working with a team is much easier in the world of business than in the university. Working in a group helps to collect and identify various new ideas from other people in the group. And most important thing is that due to the emergence of globalization technology has developed a lot, and this development of technology made the marketing task quick and fast. Career development is one of the things that must be maintained to cope with the innovative technology.

Networking is very important in today’s business world as networking opens the door to knowledge. In the business world, there are several issues like communication problems, cross-cultural issues, and relationship problems to which networking have a solution. “A good networker thinks in terms of systems – they assess the value of a contact about their entire network. A bad networker assesses only the value to themselves” (Marx, 2001, p. 72). Telephonic or face-to-face interviews are a form of understanding the person’s interests, aspirations, and viewpoints on a subject topic. The interviews provide an inquest into the personality of a person, his interests, his understanding of the career options and also what are his viewpoints on his job.

From the assignment, it is understood how a person chooses his profession and his understanding of the job prospects. Interviewing several people at a time leads to the formation of a conclusion statement and decisions can be formed. The interviews act as a good source of information and people express their opinions based on which a network can be prepared. From Keith’s summary, it could be understood it can be summarized that to be in the accounting profession a person has to be very smooth in numbers and should enjoy doing the number task. Accounting work has a lot of scope and one should enjoy the accounting work else it will prove to be too boring. It is analyzed that finance is very important in all business thus there are several accounts department in a firm and the accounting department is one of the most important departments in the business.

The interview session with Keith proves that the accounts sector is the most significant section in a trade but on the same occasion, the job of accountancy cannot be handled if one does not have a flair for numbers and does not have a thorough understanding of the various accounting principles. The summary after an interview with Keith is very short and could be more evaluated such as the role of technology in finance and accounting, does the work of accounting allow a person to manage people and learn business environment. The summary also does not provide a direct answer to how one enjoys the accounting profession and what aspects one should consider in this profession. Holly’s profession has been summarized in a single line and the interview questions are both personal as well as professional. The interview session shed light on the importance of networking and its importance in a business. Networking is very important in today’s business world as networking opens the door to knowledge and offers solutions to a variety of problems.
