Introduction War is the darkest part and saddest moment in the history of any nations. It kills many lives of both parties that participates the warand the worst is the death of civilians whose rights must have been protected against the effects of war. In the event of war between the US and Iraq, issues have to be face on the part of the US whether it is a terrorism act that killed many soldiers and civilians or either a tactic that would free the world from fright from Al Qaeda. This paper tends to let us view, analyze, and eventually react on the interview with Mr.
Michael Scheuer, a former CIA official and Head of the Osama bin Laden unit at the University of California-Berkeley. Conversations with History,” A Y-Tube Conversation conducted at the University of California-Berkeley, with former CIA official and Head of the Osama bin Laden unit, Dr. Michael Scheuer. Interview with Michael Scheuer Looking at the interview with Mr. Scheuer, it is relevant to say that the answers as his response to all the questions asks came from a point of view of a military whose loyalty lies on the organization and to his country and not to the welfare of the whole world. . According to his belief, if there are things to be learned from the methods being used during the war, this is to kill the enemy as a whole.
It has been an experience in their organization that killing them one by one would just only provoke the rest of the enemy. In a war, he considers civilian victims and dead militaries are but just a body counts and a price of the war. For him, during the time of war, enemies must be destroyed by all means as well as the allies and this has been the way of the US to be able to remain in power for 30 years. With regard to the civilians who would be affected and could be killed in the war, Scheuer took it as a part of the war, killing civilians to be able to win the war or either not to go to war at all.
He believes that in a war, killing local people is worth in defending the US government as well as his people. If the killing of the civilian people would recruit more sympathy towards their enemy, for him, so be it. They were fighting defending the Americans and this is considered as the price of the war. Videos about the killings have been seen on the televisions all the way to the internet that proves how monster the US is but he looked at the issues as propaganda from the enemies and thus won’t lead them to victory.
In his interview, he also points out that to be able to win in a war; they have to hate the enemy and its supporters. He claims that Americans who would think not to hate bin Laden give no concern with regard to their liberty and democracy. It is relevant to say that he must have been calling for the unity among the Americans against to the growing number of the Muslims enemies. However, this is also a part of the tactic he is using in uniting the Americans. When a year ago when bin Laden released a statement negotiating for peace, he assessed the instance as not real on the part of bin Laden and the he is not realistic with it.
Nevertheless, he claims that Saudi Arabia owns their loyalty and they were allies that they would be protecting Saudi from any attacks and its enemies will their enemies too. The reason behind is because of the fact that they are taking advantage of the oil and some economic tie between them. Scheuer never saw any effect on the psyche of Al Quaeda and he is literate about the succession of the plan 16 years ago from senior leaders to the young, brave, and intelligent leaders. Scheuer considered the death of bin Laden as complete and it does not damage the moral and political image of the US considering that 80% of the population of the Muslim world believes that the war was an attack to their faith.
The latest argument regarding the war is whether they will free the civilians who were a prisoners of war and he believes that they must still be behind bars or otherwise, they would be going back to the next war and fight. Critique on the Remark made by Dr. Scheuer Scheuer is remarkably strong, intelligent, and harsh person. He views war only from the point of view of the Organization where he is in and for the country where he serves. He was like living in a box and never recognized those people who suffered and killed in the war.
He is very selfish and loyal to his country considering that he must have been protecting lives all over the world being in a military. The orientation that he exposed to the world undeniably could affect the outlook of the people around the world towards US as a superpower country. Reference You Tube.
