Extract of sample "National and Community Benefit"

Today, food habits are changing rapidly. Consumption of acidic substances (e.g., soft drinks) has increased manifold. These substances cause gradual and serious damage to the teeth of both adults and children. Dental erosion is thus becoming a preponderant health problem in the national context.

The treatments like root canal treatment, oral surgery, etc. need to be improved to address this public health issue effectively. This research is aimed at exploring the most recent technologies of Physics like nano-indentation, scanning electron microscopy, etc. which can be utilized to obtain a better understanding of tooth erosion and hence help in the improvement of the dental treatment techniques. The research will help the clinicians to solve dental problems better and thus help the affected population.

In my opinion, due to lack of consciousness and lifestyle issues are leading to more dental problems and this is becoming a serious public health issue. Hence, I want to conduct research that would focus on the most innovative technologies to understand dental problems like tooth erosion better and find out better treatment methods. I hold an MS degree in Applied Physics which provides me with the necessary expertise to accomplish this task.
