Political science Political Science What ideology do you prescribe to? Is there a theory that best represents your position? This is a case that represents the interests of the citizens within the city therefore, whichever decisions are made should be based on their ideologies and preferences (Roskin, 2006). The main ideology will be based on the best economic system describing capitalism and socialism. The theory used was the theory of the social contract. It is a tradition to incorporate urban units and allowing them freedom to participate in local matters within the city.
Every decision that is made should, therefore, be centered on their decisions so that a fair judgment can be given. The real law comes from the will of the people. This is based on democracy and social compact. How much influence should interest groups play in your decision making? Interest groups is one of he factors as they are all citizens of the town. They should not be put in a position where they can directly influence the decision. This is because; they are an interested party that could give a suggestion to favor them (Roskin, 2006).
How do you respond to those that support the project/against the project and donated to your campaign? Having people supporting the project with the knowledge of the reasons of why they support, it is very essential. They could be supporting it for personal gain or to avoid responsibilities. Those not supporting the idea, on the other hand, could be those that are oppressed by the suggestion. The only solution to these two parties is listening to all their suggestions. Making a point of dealing with the situation in a manner that will not be oppressive could also be an important gesture.
What role should lobbyists play? In this case, a lobbyist will come in handy in advising the city dwellers (Roskin, 2006). They are the people that are in a position to influence the final decision made by the authorities. Since they give advice, then it will be needed in this case. What is your response to demonstrations, protests and negative ads? Demonstrations and protests are a usual part of politics. Handling this will mean promising reforms for the better of the decision at hand. All there is to do is try to give a positive side of the suggestion so that they also can visualize.
This will be done by communicating to constituents. What is the best way to communicate with your constituents? The best way to do this will be through the use of county representatives. They will show them that all their ideas are of importance. How should you utilize the media, if at all? The media can be used to the effect of the situation. This will be done by making people aware of the reasoning behind the suggestion. When they see it from a media point of view, no doubts will be faced. There will also be minimal protests.
How do you reconcile this proposal with your own political ideology? Using the political ideology, reconciling the proposal will call for public opinion. Not only is there a risk of being reelected, but there is that of oppressing citizens. As a legislative body, what information should you be seeking or relaying from/to your constituency? Looking for information on the statistical measure of the project will be essential. This entails analyzing both the advantages and disadvantages of the proposal.
The results should be relayed to the people through the media or representatives. What is your leadership style, hand-on/hands-off? Do you fear losing control of votes? The leadership style used in this crisis should be hands on, therefore, the fear to lose votes should be cancelled. The best thing to be done is to acknowledge the residents’ dignity and serve them. The change and benefits should be noticeable. What are the monetary contributions and their impact in decision making? Monetary contributions will be needed in case this proposal goes through.
This means that taxes could be increased or fund raisers be put to functioning. This might influence decision making in a manner that citizens will be oppressed when it comes to the first proposal. On the other hand, they might not want to fund the project (Roskin, 2006). What will be the impacts on re-election? The results of the decision could influence reelection in a positive or negative manner. The world is a mathematical order where calculation is essential. This means that if the project is a failure, being kicked out is a fact.
On the other hand, in case of success, everything will go according to plan. Constitutional issues could be involved, there are residential homes around. Every citizen is governed by constitutional elements where they are under a rule. This means that they will be taking part of their land from them. This is an illegal act and can provoke land issues that will need intervention of higher powers. Decision making will be influenced by many factors, but at the end of the day, a decision has to be made.
This decision has to be effective for the sake of residents and maintaining power as mayor. Considering all factors of the proposal, giving a go ahead to the project is the best idea instead of leaving that land abandoned. Reference Roskin G. Michael.
