XXX XXX XXX XXX German and Arabian Stereotypes There are stereotypes between us Arabians and the Germans that are both similar and different. A stereotype is a basic conception based on popular ideas usually made by the media or experiences of others. The largest stigma that we have in common would have to be that we are we are murderers. Nazi Germany has a stigma that has cursed the country for six long decades. In relation, many foreigners believe Arabs to be terrorists because of what the extremists in the Middle East do and the amplifications of foreign media.

The truth is Arabs are warm and well-cultured people. Both countries must deal with the ignorance of others and they need to work on erasing the stigma. A stereotype of Germany that opposes one of our stereotypes is that Germans are seen as being structured, cold, and serious while we are seen as dirty, narrow-minded, and angry. Though it is true that Saudi has people living without advanced technology, it does not make them less than anybody else. Arabs just have a lifestyle that is not popular amongst most modern civilizations.

As for Germans, they are seen in high regard. They show up to appointments on-time, something that we do not do so much, and they are seen as very straightforward when on the job. Saudi Arabians are homely people and we like to interact with one another. We take our family life very seriously, unlike most western civilizations. We put our families in front of everything. Another stereotype is physical features. Many people believe that Germans are all blue-eyed and blonde, and at the same time, they see Arabian men with long, uncombed beards and women with a cloth covering their faces.

These things are true to a certain degree. Germans do have many blue-eyed blondes and Saudi does have many people fitting the description above. But to assume that everybody follows these stereotypes is ridiculous. In movies, Arabs and Germans are usually seen in the stereotypical “terrorist” point of view. Germans are usually portrayed as Nazis while Arabs are portrayed as cut-throats. The problem with this is the affect it causes on viewers. It makes people associate what they see in the media with real life which is really unfair.
