THE LANGUAGE OF HEALTH INFORMATICS (M3C) The Language of Health Informatics (M3C) Affiliation This is the age of information technology since the information technology is participating in every area of business as well as personal life. In the same way, the emergence of health care management and administration systems has offered incurable support and facilities. This paper will discuss and analyze some of the prime aspects and areas of the new health information system for our hospital that will completely computerize the overall operations and working of the hospital.
The new information system at our hospital will be based on a completely centralized database management system that will automate the overall working and operational procedures of the hospital. In this scenario this arrangement will offer a variety of advantages and facilities for the hospital, doctors and other working staff. Some of the main characteristics of such information system at the hospital are outlined below: (Healthcare Informatics, 2004) Complete automation of hospital records Digitization of hospital’s operations No paper based environment Simple user interface for hospital staff Data integrity Quick searching plus efficient response Better protection of the data as well as information Rapid response to the possible issues Fast and effective reporting of all the processes Backup as well as archives facilities In case of new health information system application at our hospital we would have to deal with a lot of medical records and other details those can be recorded as well as processed.
In this scenario we can record and assess the details about patients like patient data and information that can be used and assessed by the doctors for better and effective treatment. Then we can record disease information and its potential symptoms so that they could efficiently diagnose the disease. Afterward this information system can incorporate medicine and other information regarding better handling of the diverse issues and aspects regarding their delivery and management. Subsequently this health information system can hold doctors as well as staff information to better schedule and plan the working time and shifts (Healthcare Informatics, 2005).
By assessing the importance of uniform terminology, through coding and consistency or standardization of the data we can be competent to know that for any organization it is really significant to incorporate some prime standards regarding management and organization of diverse records. However, in case of new health information system application we need to take care of these issues so that we can be able to experience better working of the system. Additionally, by taking such aspects of the health information system we will be capable to have better data quality with no dirty data.
The quality of data leads toward an enhanced decision making for improving the working and operations of the hospitals. On the other hand the new code quality leads to no or else negligible loop holes in the system we are going to deploy at our hospital to get efficient performance and working (Bienias, Owen, & Bang), (National DHIA, 2002) and (Sommers, 2005) . In case of new health information system application we will follow some of the effective information standards and organizations those can be applicable, as well as possibly required for this project.
Present work in health standards, notably through CEN, HL7, OMG and ISO tries to tackle a number of issues in the health information systems. Such health standards have been deployed in UK, US, Australia, Holland and Germany, as well as many nations worldwide. However in case of new health information system application for our hospital we will implement the health information systems, EHR (or electronic health record). This standard document will guarantee an effective working and data value at our IS technology-based platform application (Beale).
This paper has presented a detailed analysis of some of the prime factors and issues of new technology based platform application at our hospital. This paper has discussed the advantages that will be brought by new information system implantation. References Beale, T. (n.d.). Health Information Standards Manifesto.
