An Analysis of Meta House Organization An Analysis of Meta House Organization In our day-to-day life, we experience different concerns and challenges that exhibit the ability to affect both our mental and physical wellbeing. Some of the concerns mentioned above include; mental stress, drug addiction, child development and care as well as stigmatization by a segment of the community. It, however, is apparent that the modern society is undertaking various measures to ensure that the lot mentioned above perfectly fits with the moral changes witnessed in the world. One of the interventions that are seeming is counseling therapy for both the drug addicts and other child care related issues (Kosasih et al, 1998, p. 156). Counseling in this study refers to talking therapy that authorizes an individual to share his or her problems and feeling in a dependable and confidential environment. In line with the above notions, this paper seeks to make an analysis of the social service sessions that I attended at Meta House, for women struggling with addiction, in Milwaukee WI. History and roles Meta House established in the 1880s, is a non-profit organization that aids women who are struggling with alcohol and drug addictions to take charge of their lives once more and rebuild their families’. Most of the women who visit the Meta House acknowledges the fact that the facility helps tames and inhibits good parental morals in them, according them another rare opportunity to help them make up for their families. With an ideology that women serving in the facility as mentioned above have the motive of being good mothers, in 1988 Meta House became one of the founder facility to incorporate children into its processes. Apart from providing counseling sessions to mothers, the facility currently boasts of efficient childcare facilities within its premises. Apart from the healthcare roles, Meta House also help pregnant women in giving birth to strong and healthy babies, as well as fostering education to the parents, mothers, on how to ensure better development of their young ones. Through fostering of better parental ideologies, strong bonds take effect during the recovery processes of the mother’s recovery thus aiding in the breakage of the addiction cycle (Friedland, 2000, p. 107). From the recent statistics by various different scholars, it is a fact that Milwaukee WI has one of the most women addicts in comparison to other areas of the world. The location of Meta House facility, therefore, proves very critical, especially to the rehabilitation of addicted women with families as well. The outcomes of the Meta House programs are depictions of the facilities accountability and commitments to the community at large, with the inclusion of its comprehensive investment evaluation structure. The structure of the management is also a key pointer of its commitment to bettering the lives of women addicts and children. For instance, there are our full-time employees’ positions with the mandate of undertaking a continuous project evaluation. Besides these positions, Meta House frequently undertakes consultations with the Planning Council of Health and Human Services, acting as an external evaluation consultant, with the bid of ensuring integrity. Interview interaction with Dr. Francine Feinberg During my visit to the above facility, I had a one on one interview with Dr. Francine Feinberg, who is a senior personnel in-charge of the in-patient care and counseling therapies. Much of the interview majored on the organizations obligation and roles as well as the different concerns and hurdles that they face in their quest to building a better society. In her response, Dr. Francine claimed that their key role is relieving off the burdens of addictions from mothers with families as well as equipping them with valuable and vital knowledge useful for their future lives. She further made the emphasis that Meta House is more of a public charity and non-profit organization that majorly derives its funds from both the public and private sector to facilitate its undertakings. The interview further brought clear the sentiments that the facility, majorly, deals with women with disorders in substance abuse as well as ensuring responsive gender treatment (Jones, 1999, p. 48). For over fifty years, Doctor Feinberg further brought to my attention that the facility is one of the key facility that gives parenting educations, vocational services and child health cares to the society. The above undertakings are taken in a holistic manner so as to guarantee the mothers get better and also ensuring their family has the essential tools to adapt well to life in recovery. She further claimed that the Meta House utilize it funds in a cost effective manner so as to ensure continued success of the facility. However, from the interview, it was clear that the organization has a major challenge of finances. The doctor said that the current amounts that their run on is inadequate to allow them fully exploit the full limits of their organization. For example, the number of staffs that works in the organization does not rhyme the large number of patients that they interact with on a daily basis. The above employee crises are as a result of lack of enough capital to pay the wage demands of additional employees. However, she emphasized that they were not ready to allow the limited finances that they run on to compromise the running of the organization and the services rendered. Also, she further put forth the absence of ultra-modern equipment within the organization but assured me that is one of their key focus for this year. Some of the statistics that Doctor Feinberg utilized to justify some of the allegations were very straight and satisfying in themselves. For instance in 2014, Meta House attended to approximately five hundred and thirty-four women as well as two hundred and forty-five children. Of the total women served in this year, eighty-two women were pregnant during their admissions. Interaction with the case manager Ms. Sandy Further, prior to the admission of these individuals to Meta House, ninety-one percent had initially experienced some essence of abuse in their lives according to Ms. Sandy. The staff mentioned above is charged with supervising the overall activities taking place in the facility as well as ensuring the safety of both the patients and employees. I had to stay close to Ms. Sandy due to the critical security role that she undertakes at Meta House. She further explained that the rise in the number of individuals attending the facility is an indication of the successes that the organization boast of since its establishment From my general observation while with Ms. Sandy, the environment is more of a friendly ecosystem, well maintained to ensure that the patient adapt and conform to its surroundings. The staffs are highly trained and handling their patients with dignity irrespective of their socioeconomic backgrounds (Fitzpatrick & Wallace, 2006, p. 78). Rapport is the key character observable at least in every practitioner within Meta House, thus bringing in the feeling of comfort and openness into the patients. Skills and possibility of working with the organization The skills exhibited by the practitioner includes body languages and positive motivations as well as success stories of individuals who had earlier found themselves in similar situations. There is a variety of books that gives hope to the different clients that the facility received, perhaps, adding to its success stories. At the outpatients’ wing, I observed that the maximum time that an individual may take on average is one hundred and five days, which was in comparison to the ninety-two days National average. These time ensures that the patient conforms to her new life requirements and roles as she rediscovers her real self. Having the adequate skills pertaining to child care, I believe I can work in the facility set up mentioned above, particularly in the Children’s wing. The above notions are based on the fact that at the time of visit, I interacted with different families and at certain instances helped in holding and taking care of some children foe a while. From my observations, it is in my belief that the Meta House organization plays a vital role to the people of Milwaukee WI, particularly in fighting addiction and taking care of their families. In as much as it operates on limited funds, the outcomes are good and justifiable to the society at large. This community has embraced the hospital in its bid to make their lives better at affordable costs, especially considering the bulk of work that they take to ensure total transformation. In line with the above notions, Meta House stands out in terms of performance and service delivery. References Kosasih, J. B., Borca, H. H., Wenninger, W. J., & Duthie, E. (1998).
