School-aged children who are suffering from diabetes are having poor treatment adherence, it is for this reason that proper nursing education should be instituted to combat poor treatment adherence. The objective of this study will be to assess whether there is a difference in treatment adherence between those who take part in nursing education and those who do not take part among diabetic school-age children. The study will employ a descriptive and cross-sectional study design, and a convenient sampling technique shall be used to sample 52 respondents. A self-administered questionnaire will be used to collect data from the study subjects. Data will be analyzed by use of computer software, a statistical package for social sciences (SPSS). The data will then be presented in tables and bar graphs.

CHAPTER ONE
Background and Introduction
Diabetes mellitus has become a growing concern globally today, and it has been on the rise in the last three decades. According to WHO, it is estimated that one hundred and seventy million people are currently diagnosed and suffering from diabetes mellitus both type I and type II globally. However, Diabetes type II is still in the lead with approximately sixty-eight percent globally. Diabetes has been majorly associated with an individual lifestyle, however, most type I diabetes are autoimmune related and some of their causes are idiopathic. Diabetes poses a risk in most individuals since they are usually worried about the disease prognosis (Whiting et al, 2011).

Diabetes is among the most common chronic diseases in children and young adults globally.
