Obtaining services within community The changing needs and expectations entailed in the more than 4.7 million U.S. citizens with developmental disabilities constituted the basis for the enacting of the DD Act of 2000 (Moore, Washington, Ningning, Johnson, Davis, Eugene-Cross & Quinn, 2015). The congress set on the establishment of the Act to set programs for improving the lives the individuals with a developmental disability in the community. Over the past several years, United Sates continues to witness a key transformation in the understanding of having a developmental disability, including the notable move from the medical based models for care to the social models, which incorporate an interdisciplinary approach to identification, support and delivery of support services and recourses within the community (Sheppard & Unsworth, 2011). However, despite these milestones in the care services and resources in the community, considerable barriers to the entire integration and establishment of maximum independence for the developmental disability care. Nonetheless, within the community setting, several structures, resources and services are evident for supporting the development of the disability cases. The availability and eligibility of resources and services The Washington state facilitates a vast composition of resources to assist the parents and families of children and youth among other individuals with developmental disabilities (Sheppard & Unsworth, 2011). The course entails focusing on the successful support for the individuals with developmental disabilities to achieve independence in their lives. The vast composition of developmental disability cases in the community demands a comprehensive establishment of support services and resources that enable the care within the community. There are vast services and resources for support across the Washington State, allowing for the families and individuals to make a choice of the intermediary support best fitting for the needs. For instance, there is the Division of Disability and Aging Services, whose partnership with the developmental disabilities support systems is significant component (Moore, Washington, Ningning, Johnson, Davis, Eugene-Cross & Quinn, 2015). The Division facilitates funding which is a key resource for developing the systems and, training, quality assurance and technical assistance entailed in the disability care programs. Additionally, the Division is also key in its conceptual support through providing guardianship services to the individuals with developmental disabilities and who the court determines that they need the guardianship support. Thus, indeed, he services facilitated by this concept are eligibly viable in the setting of this community care services and resources. Additionally, the community also has support in the form of community and home support waivers as well as, collaboration of various national and local hospital facilities to establish a network of healthcare models and support systems for the individuals with developmental disabilities (Hahn, 2014). The state funded services, which include family support assistance programs and assisted living, as well as, volunteer services, guardianship assistance and community-integrated employment, remain core services and resources in the transition to facilitate commendable support resources and services for the individuals with developmental disabilities. Thus, in view of these existent support systems, the community within the Washington State has considerable resources and services in support of the individuals with developmental disabilities, in accordance with the DD Act of 2000 (Sheppard & Unsworth, 2011). The services assistance in developing competencies and talents and gain control over life circumstances The various resources and services offered are notably successful in developing the competencies of the individuals with disabilities, in their endeavor to establish the independence of their lives and cover over their life circumstances. The funding is the most significant resource that fosters the other support services for helping the individuals with developmental disabilities. The service planning, coordination, collaboration, technical assistance, and quality control services assist the individuals significantly in coping with their life circumstances (Ronneberg, Peters-Beumer, Marks & Factor, 2015). The community and home-integrated support systems facilitate support and supervision for the individuals at their residence for 24 hours every day. Thus, this support notably helps many of the disabled persons in their developmental journey, giving them active support. Further, the clinical interventions established through national and local hospital alliances provide therapeutic and medical support, which gives the individuals the capacity to stand their life circumstances and engage actively in the various daily engagements (Hahn, 2014). The waiver services give the disabled persons the financial support in getting access to varied support services facilitated by the community-based programs. All these components of the care services and resources do give the individuals with developmental disabilities, as well as, their families to cope with the challenges accordingly (Ronneberg, Peters-Beumer, Marks & Factor, 2015). Thus, all these formulations are conceptual procedures in line with the DD Act 2000, and facilitate the entire course for the Act for the individuals and families of the individuals with developmental disabilities. A disability and services offered to help to improve the life circumstances of these individuals The Center for Disease Control and Prevention in the latest statistical figures reaffirm hat autism remains a critical public health issue impacting millions of American lives deeply (Vohra, Madhavan, Sambamoorthi & St Peter, 2014). The support systems from the national and local settings continue to work closely in facilitating the care of the lives of the individuals on the autism spectrum. Such support systems entail supporting research, improving support services and close working relations with the entire community. Autism entails the developmental disability with varying degrees, including social difficulties, verbal and non-verbal communication and repetitive behavioral challenges (Vohra, Madhavan, Sambamoorthi & St Peter, 2014). Consequently, early identification and intervention are key components that facilitate the care for the trajectory of the life of individuals with the developmental disability of autism. In combating this notably challenging health condition, the support systems factor the individual as well as the family of that individual. A key establishment for care against Autism is the establishment of the Combating Autism Act of 2006 (Vohra, Madhavan, Sambamoorthi & St Peter, 2014). This act marked the beginning of the establishment of interagency coordination in facilitating care and support for the individuals with autism. The interagency collaborations formulate a committee whose responsibilities entail strategic planning and research into the subject of autism. Additionally, this committee gives suggestions for measures to employ in the process of facilitating care and support against autism. Another procedure established in the care for Autism individuals and their families is the creation of the Office of Autism in the community. This entity has the responsibilities to promote and disseminate the best practices of care including training of support stuff for the individuals with autism. The training covers guardians and family members in close relation to the individual with autism (Vohra, Madhavan, Sambamoorthi & St Peter, 2014). Thus, these support structures are elemental in the entire care process. Creating awareness and training of the community is another concept that the Office of Autism in the community facilitates in the support and care for the needs of the individuals with autism. The support programs also incorporate specialized learning programs for children with the autism disability in the regular learning institutions, which helps in establishing social integration for such individuals into the community (Vohra, Madhavan, Sambamoorthi & St Peter, 2014). All these programs, resources, and support services are effective in improving the lives of the individuals with Autism. The importance of the services to the family as a whole and the services aid with care for the individuals The support programs for individuals with developmental disabilities in most communities tend to focus entirely on the individual patient and to forget the family entity behind this individual. Thus, in facilitating access to care services and resources for the individuals with a disability, the family is a crucial component. In the course of the care programs in this community, the structures and support services factor the family entity accordingly (Hahn, 2014). The family receives support from the waiver systems, which reduce the costs incurred in accessing care services for their family members who suffer the disabilities. Further, the emancipation programs for the community help the family in accepting the given situation and facilitating support for the individual. For instance, a child born with autism, the family would face stigmatization a factor that impairs their perception of the disability (Vohra, Madhavan, Sambamoorthi & St Peter, 2014). However, the current care and support services help emancipate the family members to accept the disability and give total and unwavering support to the child with autism. Thus, all these conceptualizations are evidence of milestones made in the care for individuals with developmental disabilities. References Moore, C. L., Washington, A.
