One major environmental health hazard isrelated to dumping of garbage especially in a around the communities where people live. Garbage is a deadly health hazard if it is left uncollected over a long period of time. The major health risk of garbage to human beings can be cholera outbreak. This is a deadly disease that is mainly caused by dumping garbage everywhere. The decomposing garbage is a source of the deadly cholera disease.

This decomposing garbage contains bacteria and is likely to attract flies. These flies can easily spread the disease when they come to contact with clean food to be consumed by human beings. This often leads to an outbreak of cholera, a deadly disease if treatment is not quickly sought. However, of notable concern is the fact that cholera is a preventable disease if necessary precautions are taken. As such, the nurses play different roles in environmental health. They can take a leading role in educating people about the need to maintain a clean environment in order to prevent the outbreak of deadly diseases such as cholera.

These health professionals can also enlighten people about the importance of taking safety precautions such as washing hands before eating any food. These are preventive measures that can help mitigate the problem identified.
