In other words, it shows different outcomes that could result from a specific process. For instance, after initial examination, a patient can either proceed to the discharge room or can proceed to the laboratory for tests.
Your elucidation that process mapping is the use of diagramming to understand the process currently used and display what is expected of each individual involved (Cookson et-al, 2011) is spot on. I concur that through process mapping, workable standards can be identified and adopted and also courses of action implemented to help improve on non-workable standards in order to arrive at better outcomes. However, I feel that you could have used an example of a problem necessitating improvement in healthcare in your process map. In my process map for instance, I have used an example showing how patients move across the clinic from the time of checking in to the time of discharge. In such an example, areas that need improvement can clearly be noted.

...Response to discussion board posts Response to discussion board posts Your idea of employing your ability to see the big picture as a strength in helping the nurse struggling with prioritizing Sikkink is spot on. I agree that applying your strength of seeing the big picture could give you a better understanding of the situation and guide you in devising an action plan. Also, your postulation that the nurses weakness in terms of obsession with details can be turned into an asset is factual. Kanefield (2011) posits that "Understanding the strengths of individuals plays a critical role in organizational...

...Response to Week 6 Discussion Response to Week 6 Discussion Schneider, I support your discussion in that Hoyer lifts are examples of capital expenditure. Hoyer lifts are expensive and are long lasting. Therefore, the benefits of the purchase will outweigh the disadvantages. I also agree with your point that the need for purchase can be demonstrated through showing the risks staff members are exposed to for lack of a better equipment to lift patients weighing more than four hundred pounds such as injuries to the staff. Demonstrating how the facility is losing money through transferring patients weighing more than four hundred pounds to other facilities...

...Response to Discussion Response to discussion Grace Chang, in my opinion, the value of variance analysis in decision making is clearly noted in your discussion. I agree with your contention as cited by Zelman, McCue and Glick (2009) that analyzing budget variances reflects the financial performance internally. You further explicate how a flexible budget can be formulated and why it ought to be formulated. I am in total agreement of your discussion. The trick behind variance analysis making out...

...Discussion Response Discussion response Response to Catherine Schneider In your discussion, you imply that benchmarking acts as a reference for driving improvements geared towards the highest levels of efficiency and fiscal performance. I concur with this statement. Benchmarking helps an organization to compare its strategies with those of top performing organizations (Baker and Baker, 2014). In doing so, best strategies can be replicated in a bid to drive performance to high levels. Conversely, benchmarking can also help an organization identify implemented strategies contributing to low standards and hence drop them (Kay, 2007). For...

...Response to Discussion Response to Laura Sikkink I could not agree more on your inference that conflicts in the workplace can eitherhave a positive or a negative impact. As Brinkert (2010) notes, conflicts can act as the basis for identification of confounding issues within the workplace hence strategies to improve the situations crafted and put into practice. On the other hand, they could affect communication and hence impact on job satisfaction and productivity. In you r example, the verbal abuse by the primary care supervisor could affect the involvement of other group members. According to Brinkert (2010), such behavior could have an indirect expense on the organization in terms of...

...Discussion Board Responses Response to Jean Sheets Jean Sheets, I agree with your interjection that a culture of empowerment as portrayed in your organization encourages employee engagement. In laymans terms, empowerment can be extrapolated to mean that employees are allowed to make their own judgments and decisions when faced with difficult situations. As a nurse leader, it would be important to break down hierarchies that may affect how information is shared (Dorgham, 2012), and this can be achieved though empowering employees. Having numerous decision making levels affects provision of services as a lot of time is wasted due to bureaucracy. Empowering employees is of...
