In my 9th standard, I worked for the Star Light Foundation in which my responsibilities were to help set up activities for the children who are diagnosed with terminal illnesses. Also, I even brought consuls such as Nintendo Wii’s and Xbox 360’s to help the patients relax. At that point of time, I realized that I possess the skills and attitude to be a good nurse. I think I have to mention my leadership skills at this juncture. In fact, I was a Beverly Hills High School cheerleader and a La Xtreme All Stars cheerleader. That means until my 9th grade, I performed well in studies, extracurricular activities and community service, and I was getting more and more aware of my affinity towards helping the ill and the needy. However, things changed considerably as I had to move with my family to the small town of Los Alamitos where my education did not go well due to family problems. My mother had to struggle hard to keep the family going as she was not college educated. Still, I tried my best to overcome the issues and came up with a 3.1 GPA. Thus, I was on the facility honor roll. In the new town too, I continued my voluntary service, and this time, I worked for the Knott Care Center. There, I helped the elderly play games like bingo, and the service was honored with the ‘volunteer of the month’ award. By this time, I was very sure about the future path I had to select.
