Extract of sample "Development of Music"

The historical development of classical music helps current musicians and music fans to compose, perform and appreciate popular music of today. Each period’s development carries some ideas to the next period as classical music evolves (Burrows, 2005). Several popular songs are composed, performed and perceived from one or more classical perspective. Therefore, classical music has contributed significantly to the development of popular music today. One of the ways through which knowledge of the development of classical music helps in composition of popular music today is the use of common issues in the society such as love and religion to develop music.

In classic middle ages, French poet musicians used issues of love in poetic form to compose their classical songs (Burrows, 2005). In the modern era, Western classical musicians have borrowed the themes of love and poetic forms of the classical music to compose popular music today. In terms of performance, modern popular music is performed after a thorough classical training. Presentation of music in the classical era involved the use of specific methods and instruments. These styles need training so that modern musicians can learn from them and develop better performances and presentations (Burrows, 2005).

For example, symphony and orchestra developed as forms of classical music performances and presentation. Popular music today can use this knowledge to improve their performance and borrow their standardized styles. Lastly, the knowledge of classical music enables music fans and music producers to appreciate popular music because it enables them to understand the significance of music since the early periods of classical music (Burrows, 2005). People may understand the use of classical music for serenades and operas, and motivates them to appreciate popular music as an important aspect in entertainment and other social issues in the society such as love and bonding.
