America has come out of the world recession and Obama’s policies have created employment opportunities for American citizens. For this and other achievements, he has earned another term in office after defeating Mitt Romney in the just concluded November 2012 election. Obama election in 2008 is a turning point in the history of America. He is the first African American to be elected president in a society dominated by white people. There have been immense changes in the way things have been done in every administration during this period.
This has led to turning points and changes in the status quo, whether for the best or the worst. For example, Obama had the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act passed into law. This is a turning point as the bill was controversial was passed by a slim margin. This has all depended on the president of the day’s policies and their implementation. For instance, even before this period of Reagan to the Obama presidency, there have been world events that changed the American social and economic environment.
There has been increased population as a result of immigration and urbanization of major United States cities and states (Rich, fourth paragraph). Foreigners have emigrated from their home countries and acquired American citizenship either for economic reasons or for other reasons. Some of them fled their home countries to run away from wars and America became a safe place for them. Due to its policies and stable local market, the American economy grew and became a superpower especially after the World Wars.
Most of America’s competitors were destroyed during the world war and it benefited from that. Eventual developments in exports and technological growth have contributed greatly to the revolution in the economy of the American people.
