Many databases carry discussions of Acupuncture and all of them offer evidence and information which are vital to the promotion of this alternative form of medicine. This paper shall assess these databases and the experience of this student in locating evidence on acupuncture. It shall also discuss the current information available in the search as regards research done on acupuncture. This paper shall also discuss whether or not evidence-based research in the information was found during the search.
And finally, this paper shall make recommendations on future research pertaining to acupuncture. Locating basic information about acupuncture was a relatively easy process as it is a fairly common topic and information available on it is rich and diverse. Literature search which mostly focuses on evidence-based research also yielded rich resources from most of the databases searched for this paper. Most of the databases offered summaries and abstracts of available researches which could be easily browsed and evaluated for further reading.
The databases also already offered links to articles related to acupuncture or to a particular related thread in the acupuncture research. This made the research and the review process easier for this student. As was mentioned, since acupuncture is a very common and also very old topic and practice, the literature and research available is very much rich. Many angles of the topic have also been taken into account, allowing for the diversity of the materials for the topic. The challenge in the process of locating evidence for acupuncture is on weeding out which among the different evidence and researches offer the most comprehensive evidence-based research on acupuncture.
With the variety of evidence available, this was quite a daunting task because the student had to review most of the researches, the references used, and the research methodology used. Nevertheless, it is heartening to note that current evidence and
