Twitter is one of the newest social networking websites which describes itself as a “community of friends and strangers from around the world sending updates about moments in their lives”.
Actually, however, Twitter can best be described as a micro-blogging site. Personally, Twitter is fun and has many uses for people who have at least average computer skills. Considering that this is already the Information Age and we live in what scholars termed as the Knowledge Society, possession of average computing skills would not present problems for high school and college students, businessmen and practically most office workers. It is always fun to find out what is keeping friends, classmates, officemates and even industrial moguls and celebrities busy.
This makes Twitter more interesting than Friendster. With Twitter, people get to know what other people are thinking and reading. Browsing through the various Twitter accounts, people would always find one or more people who share the same passion or interest. Business-minded individuals would be interested in learning how business and commerce are leveraging the technology. And of course, movie and television buffs would be thrilled to follow their favorite celebrities on Twitter. Twitter is also more than just a blogging site.
Its now famous catch-phrase, What are you doing?” means that for those who have the time to spare, they have the leeway to share the world a running commentary of each moment that
