Therefore it is necessary that such women should be counseled and should know her rights. In the present case, James abuses his wife regularly. If taken by the scenario, Violet is isolated from her family, not allowed to meet anybody and is subjected to cruelty at home. The recent incident was that James punched his wife while she was holding the baby. This speaks the volume of cruelty by James. Violence at homes has serious effects on the lives of family members, mainly children. Due to regular violence at home, children crave for peace of mind and they don’t perform well at school.

Violet’s elder son is an appropriate example for his aggressiveness at school. It is the actions of James and Violet, which he sees at home and performs the same at school. Domestic violence can have serious effects on children both emotionally as well as psychologically. Well, the long term effect of such violence can be very damaging as the children from such families do not receive much attention and grow up to be violent and abusive themselves. And moreover, James act of criticizing her looks, ability and restricting her from social activities has made her fearful and introvert.

Violent reactions from her husband may cause Violet to many long term effects like panic attacks, self neglect, sleep disorders, strained family relationships and inability to respond to the needs of her children. Therefore violence at homes has a definite, serious and long term impact on the lives of the family members. Every human being is born with equal rights irrespective of gender, caste, race and religion and no discrimination can be rendered to anyone. In the situation wherein a woman is victim of domestic violence, the neighbors can inform the community welfare department about the incident and as well as make the victim aware of such community centre where she can get some support on the issue.
