The story, which may be included in the genre of Comedy, History, Romance, Teen or War, is exciting for its unpredictable turn of events. The final movement of the action especially catches our attention. The American Princess is an interesting story of Sarah Wilson, who wishes to become a princess. Her dreams are accomplished partly in America, where she is on an exile. Out of her long dream of becoming a princess, she finds herself a room among the servant girls of the Queen Charlotte. One of the major motifs of the story is of course “dream” which draws all the life of Sarah Wilson, the heroine.
At the Queen’s House she is convicted for the simple crime of playing in the dress-up of the Queen. Sarah is exiled to America where she is sold as a slave. Her never-ending pursuit of her dream makes her come out of the trying situation and enjoy the life of a princess in disguise. She is all the more enjoying the privileges of an American princess though she does not know how much that would last. Her affair with Benjamin Lynch, a revolutionary leader makes herself involve in the Revolution.
The climax of the story is in favor of them. The main theme of the script can very well described as the long but fruitful pursuit of one’s personal dream and Sarah, the protagonist stands before us as the best example of the people who aim the sky, works hard for it and realizes the dream with the assistance of luck as well. The major premise is the story of Sarah, though there are other themes like the historic freedom struggle of the American people, the patriotic life of the revolutionary leader Benjamin Lynch, the subtle romantic affair of Sarah and Ben and others.
