Drag Racing al Affiliation) Drug racing is a sport that involves the competition between cars, which aim to cross a set finish line to win the race. The competition involves two people at a time competing on short course, commonly a quarter mile. Before the race, the individual gets a chance to make a turn about to warm the automobile, and to gain traction. They then line up for the race, which then starts with the aid of a system known as Christmas tree (Boyce, 2012). The system has a column of six lines on the driver’s lane. The system coordinates the race from preparation time at the stage to the time they reach the finish line. The first person to cross the line is not automatically the winner because the race involves the concept of time taken to leave the station, and the route that an individual follows. The race emphasizes the time factor because the Christmas tree system coordinates the individual vehicles. It checks the time that a car takes from the beginning to the end. The competition allows participation of vehicles that are tested by qualified mechanics. It also considers the type of cars that take part in the race. In the standard racing, the losing car and driver exit the contest, while the winner goes on to race with other winners, until only one is left, based on a traditional bracket system. In standard formats, the pairings consider the lowest elapsed times. In bracket racing without a breakout, pairings depend on time compared to their index. In bracket racing with a breakout, the closest to the index is favorable (Boyce, 2012). There are different categories of drag races; each class has the requirement of one restriction. For instance, there is category in terms of weight, engine size and modification (Boyce, 2012). The category that I took part in is the dragster race that involves the young stars. This type of racing involves young people who have the experience in track racing. They take part in an eight-mile race that takes place for each pair. The race involves the young people in there activities. It is usually fun to attend such events because of the enthusiasm that they show when they participate in the races. The event is also thrilling to the spectators because of the showcase of talents by the drivers. Such events are legal, and an established institution organizes them. I participated in the event for the same reason. However, some events are usually illegal because they contravene the traffic rules. The state prohibits them by arresting the people that are involved in the practice (Boyce 2012). The reason for this move is that there is lack of coordination in the illegal practice of the sport. The street racing cause many accidents because of over speeding in the game. The junior racing is the most appealing type of racing to me because it attracts the youths. It involves an eight-mile competition of cars covering routes that are prepared for the championship. The race takes place in an organized system controlled by the Christmas tree. It is appealing because of the category of the people that take place in the event. The fans of the game are a constitution of young college students that are enthusiastic about the sport. The turn out in the event is high; as a result, there is interaction of the students during the event. The people also are of the same age group so it is comfortable to take part in the event. The sport usually takes place in an open space that people can witness the competition; this makes it appealing to the funs watching the event live. Other categories include the super comp, super gas, and super stock (Boyce, 2012). The junior dragster involves the youth participation, unlike the other categories. The sport takes a longer time because it covers a long mile unlike the other categories that take a little as a quarter of a mile (Boyce, 2012). The long race makes it appealing because of the continuous thrill that takes longer period. The thrill also is in the form of the activities that take place during the event. People attend the event as a social occasion. The large number of attendance leads to many interactions among the people. They also engage the spectators by the display of high speed in driving. This category, therefore, is appealing to the young stars because of the thrill. It is also appealing to the youths with interest in different types of cars. There are varieties of vehicles with different engine powers that take place in the event. I like taking part in the event as a spectator because participation in the event requires many skills that I do not have now. Such skills include good control of the vehicle, and mastery of driving in high speed. The sport also involves knowledge of the professional driving that is difficult to maintain in this case. Inadequate skills in driving and little experience are why I prefer the spectator position. I also feel that racing in such a competition involves dangerous speeds that can cause accident. I therefore enjoy watching the competition because it is also a form of participation for the fans. The sounds that the vehicles produce and the movements to the starting point, the turning traction of the wheels and finally, the speeds that involve the races make the scenario epic to view. The last time I went to the event it was a spectacular experience. The large number is a motivation to the track participants. The event is also enjoyable to the spectators because of the cheering that takes place during the racing time. The drivers display incredible driving skills that leave the spectators wondering the abilities they have. The individuals also take part by taking sides on the person they think is going to win the competition. On the other hand, the competition is dangerous for the participants. My experience the last time I went for the night racing. There was an accident during the event and the participants were injured. The accident left the participants struggling for their lives. Such event involves a highly skilled driver who is competent in the game. However, accidents are inevitable in any condition. The high speed of the vehicles makes them difficult to control, and hence the accidents can happen like in the case of the night’s event. Such an event attracts a large crowd from all over the county. The event takes place to attract both participants and the fans that have interested in the sporting activity. The participation of the event also involves the spectators. Therefore, it should involve the effort of the government to encourage it, to increase the participants in the sports. The organizers of the event should involve the use of media to create awareness of the sporting activities. This strategy will increase the knowledge of the sport to the people. It can also increase the number of groups interested in sponsoring the events. This strategy can also increase the coverage of the sport and recruitment of many drivers to the game. The event should also take place in secure places that reduces the likelihood of accidents in the game. The spectator should be in a secure place that cannot involve in any accidents. Therefore, sport racing is one of the rising sports in the recent past that the organization should embrace. Reference Boyce, D. (2012). Junior stock: Stock class drag racing 1964-1971.
