Dancing Dreams The movie dancing dreams is about forty teenagers coming together in order to win a competition. The teenagers have no experience whatsoever and have no clue about what dancing is. They overcome many obstacles to discover themselves and become more mature that they were. Love relationships are formed as they struggle to create their first dance steps. They go through rigorous dancing training to become some of the best dancers. In the process, they discover their weaknesses and their strengths and learn to work together to form something more exquisite. At the end of the dance, Pina hands all the dancers a rose and walked out to the dark ends and soon after this film, Pina dies. The movie follows the first embarrassed steps of the dancers to how they gain confidence to perform an excellent dance that attracts a standing ovation. The video is raw as the audience can tell the dancers are inexperienced. There is no voice-over at the beginning of the film indicating that the neither the dancers nor the audience understood the events going on or what they were meant to be doing. This gives authenticity to the fact that they were very new to the dancing and that they did not know where to start. The movie brings out the personalities of the dancers as they go through the journey and also their stamina and courage. The film focuses mostly on the teenagers and their journey for growth and into adulthood. The movie is profound and very real as opposed to the mechanized dances that are so popular with other dance videos. Pina Wim directed the film after the death of Pina, and it consisted some of the best works by Pina. The dances that are performed in Pina take place everywhere. There are dances in the forests, on the road sidewalks and even in the tram cars. The movie also has some interviews with some of the dancers where their responses are not by word but are rather contemplative as they give their answers. Instead of using words from their minds, they use the dances on their bodies signifying the influence that their mentor had on them. Not only did Pina teach and inspire the dancers to become who they are but she also inspired in them a similar character signifying that she was such a charismatic mentor and her dances lived beyond her. The movie is very exhilarating but there is no single work of dance that is complete in the movie hence leaving the audience a bit frustrated. The power that Pina had is communicated in the movie and the audience experiences a dance and a movie at the same time and thus remains very impressive throughout the entire movie. The dancers pay glowing attributes to Pina suggesting that her influence goes far and wide. The dancers are from all over the world, from France, Russia, Japan and even Portugal. The movie shows that dances can live on even after the choreographer of the dance passes on. Every artist hopes that their works remain long after they have passed away so that they can be remembered in one way or another. The movie Pina confirms that the works of Pina live after her and that she made a mark in the dance industry. Beyond the Steps: Alvin Ailey American Dance The movie is about a dance theater during a very good time since it was started. The company sets its background at home in New York and moves to a large and world class facility that is dedicated exclusively to dance. At the state of the art facility, a new choreography is formed that aims at keeping the American modern dance alive and fresh. The director of the movie is a hip hop artist Rennie Harris, and the title of the ballet is Love Stories. Love stories talks about the past, the present and the future of the company and this includes the struggles, the successes and maybe even culture. The documentary marks not only the growth of the company but also a reflection of the company and how far they have come overcoming all the challenges along the way. The company achieved this after fifteen years of hard work and commitment to become the largest state of art facility for dance. They make a new dance in a new place in order to make a firm foundation for the company and signify a vibrant stance that the organization possesses. The movie signifies what it takes to make dance modern evolving as the word evolves, keeping art relevant throughout all ages and keeping the legacy alive throughout generations. The movie is very inspiring and has very high levels of performance. The dances are very electric as the dancers ensure that the dance moves are impeccable and very intriguing. The audience expects to see something that they have never seen before as the movie explores different dances that are electrifying. Ballet Russes The movie is about the origins of ballet dance and the Ballet Russes, which was a company formed by Serge Diaghilev. He formed the troupe and managed it impeccably until his death. The movie is about the dancers and the management system at the time while at the same time showing art in its purest form. The documentary is made up of rare clips that are hard to find to build a pure art. The film signifies a magnificent piece of historical art. It shows how the dance came into being and how the people slowly accepted the routines as they were introduced and spread throughout the country. In this movie, dance is immortal as the remarkable accomplishments, the choreographers, the costumes of the dancers and the designers are shown going about their work. The movie has some blurry scenes which gives further authenticity that the film is from the archives and that it has evolved a lot over time. There is rivalry among the two dancing troupes at the time with each competing to be the best. Most of the dancers in the movie were interviewed when they were in their 80s but remained active and were committed despite their advanced ages. By hearing how they talk about their past, one can tell that they did not have a very comfortable life, and perhaps dance is one if the ways through which they can forget their pain.
