Teacher The sport of basketball is extremely beneficial for your health and fitness. Provide and explain 10 specific examples as to WHY/HOW basketball can enhance/improve your overall health. Remember: Health pertains to several wellness dimensions, not solely your physical health. The sport of basketball is not only fun to engage in but is also beneficial to health which includes our physical as well as psychological well-being. The examples why/how basketball can improve our health are following.

Basketball provides our body a total cardiovascular exercise. The running across the court as well as the jumping, shooting the ball and other activities involved in playing basketball are actually cardiovascular exercise. Constantly playing basketball strengthens the body Playing basketball makes the body resistant to illness.Keeping the body fit by playing basketball also keeps the mind well.Playing releases happy hormones in the body which keeps us feel good.Sports such as basketball teaches us positive attitude towards life such as discipline, perseverance and resiliency.

Basketball teaches sportsmanship.Playing basketball provides us the opportunity to strengthen friendship and create new one. Having social connections to a lot of people is good to our psychological well-being.Playing basketball improves the cognitive ability of our mind. Basketball helps us to have an outlet from stress.2. (A) In your opinion, what is the most effective offensive play in basketball and WHY (please include 2 specific situations where you would use the play during a game)? The most offensive play is basketball is triangle offense.

It is an offense that would come from three directions which are from the front zone of the defenders and the two sides. This is the most effective play in basketball because the offense comes from many directions and not only from one side making the offense unpredictable and hard to defend (The Coach Clipboard a, nd).The two situations I would use them would be in the opening game when the other team is not yet acquainted with the game plan of the team. This would confuse them who to defend.

The other situation would be in the tie breaker play especially in the few seconds when the score is tied. The strongest offense player will be field in where the other team would not know who to defend and in the process break their defense. The other team’s defense will be spread thinly creating an opportunity to attack the weakness in their defense.(B) In your opinion, which defense (man-to-man or zone) is more effective and WHY (please include 2 specific situations where you would use the defense during a game)?

The zone defense is more effective than man-to-man defense because it involves team effort that could cover more grounds in the court. It also enable other bigger player to help in defending stronger players (The Coach Clipboard b, nd). The specific situation where zone defense is effective is when the other team uses triangle offense where their offense could come in three direction. The other situation would be after a time out called by the other team to make a play. Zone defense has a greater probability of defending against a play because it covers more ground.(C) For each shot below, describe 1 example as to WHEN you would use the shot during a game and WHY: Layup – during fast break.

It is better executed during a fast play.Hook – when defended by a taller player. The other hand can protect the ball from the defender.3-pointer – when the inside zone is heavily defended.
