Media’s formation of opinions and may be improbable in some instances. The media and its representative should not appeal to the public interest instead of an ideal truth during their reflections on formed opinions (Schlesinger 2006, p. 3). The ideals of honest reporting demand that journalists only publish information that is justified and confirmed as acceptable to the public. In relation to honest journalism and reporting, the media should not influence public opinion through biased reporting. The media should focus on highlighting issues and concerns of the public about issues, which the media itself created them. It implies that most stories written and read in the news concern of readers in manners that the public does not understand. The media then attracts praise or at times criticism for having influence on reporting issues that have a great influence on the public (Duffy & Rowden 2006, p. 3). The public cannot ignore or overlook the influence of the media has on informing it considering how far apart people live. Everyone should all acknowledge the role of the media in conveying information to readers, globally. A matter of concern about the media relates to the manner in which media frame news articles. A section of the UK population of readers is of the opinion that newspapers are turning proactive through their involvement in finding out issues matters that concern the public. Current trends in the UK are examples of dishonest journalism as practiced by renowned media such as the Daily Mail. This work outlines the influence of newspapers in the way they respond to national topics and issues of concern. It provides a detailed analysis of apparent concerns such as biased reporting by UK’s media, The Daily Mail. There are considerations that The Daily Mail is the most popular newspaper in the UK with about 4.6 million daily readers in the country (Burnel 2012, p. 1). The paper also runs one of the most popular sites in the world (Dacre 2013, p. 4). While it is justified to uphold honest reporting through its publications, The Daily Mail newspaper has a record of biased reporting cases that undermine its popularity and credibility as a source of news. The Problem with the Daily Mail The Daily Mail newspaper is among the most popular newspaper and perhaps the most influential in terms of commanding public opinion. For most of its fans, the Daily Mail is a tool for expressing the old British cultural beliefs as well as a platform for expression of political correctness. The Daily Mail is shallow-minded and a sectionalist according to a section of critics. Politicians use the Daily Mail for delivery of swing votes, because, in Britain, the newspapers have a relevance to giving of strong political stances. One of the most controversial articles, which the daily mail published, concerned the steward of the left-of-center Labor Party, Ed Miliband. The paper ran an article on Miliband’s father who was a socialist intellectual in Britain with a title that read, “The Man Who Hated Britain” (The BBC 2013, p. 1). Much criticism that the paper used to write the article was the fact that Miliband’s father was an immigrant. It, therefore, appears that the Mail has an adverse attitude towards immigrants. One critic in particular, Professor Roy Greenslade asserted that the Mail is a paper, which speaks for middle England. By middle England, the professor meant a section of the UK citizens who have middle-class aspirations, and who like to defend the same goals from the newcomers to England. Many people in England consider the paper as on, which only concentrates on petty issues. Matters, which the paper focuses on diverse topics ranging from domestic issues to exaggerated politics. Unlike other newspapers such as the guardian, the Daily Mail publishes stories that only appeal to a section of the readers. Most articles in the paper are a result of here says which defeats the logic of investing many funds in journalism. Much criticism, which the paper attracts, results from many people in the UK because they feel the newspaper is not the best for political matters (Burnett 2014, p.1). Many critics argue that the paper publishes articles from biased opinions. Critics argue that the paper only suits household topics because they need such exaggeration as the one the mail uses. According to Burnett 2014 (p. 1), the paper is particularly not good at publishing matters that require truth resulting from an investigation. It means the journalists rush to attract public appeal by being the first to report on issues and forget to consider credibility. There were incidences when the paper was forced to apologize for publishing articles without information. For the case of Miliband, the paper responded to criticism by saying that it wrongly labeled the report. A question however arises on how the most popular newspaper in the UK could be such careless. It, therefore, categorizes such an incidence as unprofessionalism in consideration that the media should pass trusted information to the public. Critics point out that the Mail is shallow-minded. They allege that it is not easy to find a reflection of truth especially from news titles. Some other concerns about reading the mail are the way it publishes it stories. Apart from the truth of prejudice and exaggerated language often employed in writing, the stories are often subject to distortion. According to The Liberal Democratic Voice 2014 (p.1), the best way of getting the most out of the daily publications of the mail is to read the news article and ignore the headline. The reason given for such actions is the title does not always carry the truth of the articles, so the best way is to read from end upwards. Comments taken to support the articles do not often fall out to be true. The mail, therefore, publishes more here says than facts and in this case, the readers do not get the reality of matters. Such a problem points out at dishonest journalism despite the high number of journalists the company has. The paper also lost in case against Doctor Austin Inveigh after the paper wrote about an abortion case linking it to him (Luft & Agencies 2009, p. 1). The paper also published stories about Parameswaran Subramanyam claiming he depended on hamburgers to sustain him for a 23-day hunger strike (Jones 2010, p. 1). As evidence points out, the newspaper has had a series of lawsuits because of unprofessional journalists. Conclusion A succinct analysis of the problems of The Daily Mail reveals issues that could still have relationships with the rest of the media industry. While we acknowledge the likelihood of publishing stories wrongly for because of completion form others, there is a need the daily mail examines media framing.
