Find Maple Shady Grove Church just north of Philipp. Note that the church is built on a crescent-shaped piece of land between the swamp to the west and the Tallahatchie River to the east. This is an example of a point bar and is built of sediment deposited on the inside of a river meander. Notice that there are a number of narrow, curving 5-10 feet tall ridges approximately parallel to the river bank on the surface of the point bar. What are these ridges called, and how do they originate? 4.

Imagine that the Tallahatchie River floods its banks and that the river crests at 150 feet above sea level. Describe the portion of the map that would be flooded by such an event (imagine you're a news reporter giving out evacuation instructions in a way that everyone in the area would understand): Over most of the Earth, the total amount of precipitation that reaches land can be accounted for by adding up the total evaporation, transpiration, runoff, and infiltration. Define each of those terms below:Runoff is an act which occurs when the amount of water falling on the land/ground exceeds the infiltration rate of the surface.

In such case, water is leaving drainage area and flows across the land surface to surface with lower elevation1. The balance between infiltration (water entering the ground) and runoff (water flowing overland) is influenced by the porosity and permeability of the surface material. What is the difference between porosity and permeability?Porosity depends on the size of the same particles.
